Questions about lords-companions

I want to give a fief to one of my companions. I have some questions:

1. Will he wear same armor and weapon as he wearing now? Should I equip him well, or should I take back all his equipment and sell it?)
2. Will he upgrade himself achieving new level? If Yes, which skills exactly?
3. Do skills like "Tactics", "Path finding", "Leadership" etc, used by AI lords? (should I raise them for my companions?)
4. If I build some improvements in the village, will they stay and work if I give this village to my lord?
5. Do lords build improvements in their fiefs?
6. Will he pay me some taxes or whatever?

Good questions, been wondering on some of them myself
As for number 6: I'm pretty sure they won't. When nobles started appearing in reality they were given a freedom not to pay any tax at all as long as they aided the king in wars. I think that's the way Native works and I doubt Idibil has changed it.

1 he will wear the equipment you give him.
2 no he wont
3 leadership yes, tactics no idea, pathfinding yes
4 yes they will
5 no idea depends from mod to mod.
6 he wont pay you anything. You give him land so that the will protect it and fight for you. Nothing else

I believe there is an AI party size bonus. I'm recalling this from the last time i used MBedit or whatever it's called, so I might be wrong. Basically I think it simulates the effects of renown (which to my knowledge the AI doesn't have).

The AI has renown... you can see each on their character page. It is the main factor that determines party size for the AI (others being if the AI lord is the Marshal or the King). It is one of the reasons in vanilla that companions made terrible lords, they had no renown and terribly small armies.

Renown is more powerful in Brytenwalda, so it is a big part of the deal for the AI. Companions should be a bit better off than in Native, and if not you can just give them some troops yourself. Regardless, it is better to build the ones you wish to enfief as a leader and not as bodyguards or advisors.

In BW renown is the primary determinant of your party size. Leadership has relatively little benefit (although it's nice that party members with leadership add to your party size), except in reducing wages. So I guess the problem is, because your companions have no renown, their armies will be tiny. It's a question of if, and how, you can increase their renown. Obviously you can't do it with them in your party... so I have no idea how else to do it.

Perhaps companions could be set up to behave as Mercenary Captains? That way they could level on their own and gain renown through battles. Also it would solve multiple problems that exist with Mercenary Captains now.

While companions will have smaller armies more often, they can get things other lords cannot, like great pathfinding and spotting skills, which will copliment their smaller size. Though I admit it would be nice if they got the standard 8 wound treatment/surgery/first aid all lords have (once made a lord), rather than having to train that up on them.

Another question about Companions... is there any way to have them auto-equip, like PoP does, or might that be something that is being looked at in the future?

Should be able to order a bard to sing the praises of your lords when you're a king.

Increases their renown, their favor to you, and maybe you get a bonus of Honor -- but people who don't like that lord get mad at you.

I like that!
