Question

Hey,

I'm Socca and I bought a serial key for mount and blade a year and half ago, I think. The lastest update i installed for Mount and Blade is .808 so I don't have the newest version yet, but I have to wait till after I get back from vacation as right now i have a very slow internet connection speed. So Im playing .808 at the moment and I have a few questions,

1. How do i higher my rank? With the Vaegirs. Do I just fight with the patrols and war parties? And if my ranks highers , does anything else happen other then a higher wage?

2. If I do the quests given by the Kings of each castle, will this lead to anything?

Take quests from the nobles and complete them. In .808 all you get is increased rank and wages.

As above, just rank and wage increase. All the more reason to upgrade to the latest version

Downloading to the next version > 2 weeks and it will be finished downloading. Thats how slow it is.

So there is nothing else I can do in the game, except for fighting, doing quests, getting higher wages/ranks. Nothing special?

Bigger more developed map.
Faster combat.
Bigger battle sizer.
3 new factions to make war with.
2 additional hero companions.
Vastly improved AI.

Perhaps you can download the patch off another computer with a faster connection, save it to a data storage device and implement it on your own computer.

Yeah well I dont know anybody here. There are a lot of old retired people living here with unsecure wireless networks but I can't get a good signal.

Another question,

Does any have a good tactic of capturing the castle? I have 31 men including 9 crossbowmen/sharpshooters and the rest calvalry (Horsemen, Knights, Man of Arms). Everytime i click on Tell some soldiers to set up ladders or something of that sort, I automatically lose half my army. Should I wait till i have 50 men? or even 100? Or do you have better ideas?

More men definitely help. A lot of it depends on your strategy for taking the castle though. If you just rush the castle you're going to get chopped down by archers and crossbowmen. Keep your infantry back and take out some of the archers who are causing you trouble first (if you have archery skill, you may want to do this yourself since you are much more accurate in .80. After you get them whittled down you have a better chance of actually making it UP the ramp. There are some other good strategies in this thread:

And just adding my vote that as soon as you can you should upgrade to .903. The changes between the two are pretty incredible. The only drawback is that the only mods available right now (that I know of) are Band of Warriors and Expanded Gameplay II. Both are excellent mods, but .808 has a bunch more available.

I suggest downloading via Opera then, the download will pick up where you left off everytime you run the program. So you could download it in intervals and not all in one sitting.

When you export your character , what will be kept? Face details, as well as skills and money? or what exactly?

You keep your money, experience, stats, weaponskills and talents. Unfortunately you lose your face details, renown and honor (not sure whether renown and honor are in .808 tho).

I GOT .903 !!! IT ROCKS MY SOCKS   Now Where can i find my heroes again (Borcha and Marid (Forgot his name)) because I can't find them where they were previously.

They show up randomly in taverns -- along with Ymira and Rolf.  Just keep hitting taverns until you find them all, sometimes it takes a _lot_ of trips.
