Sergeant Knight
So after Morrigan joins me, the village chief sends his son with me out of gratitude. The kid is a regular, non companion troop, meaning I can't change his gear. He's a beast skill wise, but he's more expensive than most nobles, has the horse archer AI with its love of melee, and wears what looks like a plain tunic, so I suspect he's not long for the world if I use him in battle. Does he play a role in the rest of the quest events? Do I need to keep him in garrison to keep him alive? If so, when do I need to bring him out for events to trigger?

you don't need him for gameplay reasons. He is there for RP reasons (story). You can talk to him and get some unique dialogs and story flavour.

But the trigger for those is just me talking to him? Or is it more complicated? Do I need to be dragging him around risking his life to get what he adds to the story?
