Since kick had been implemented, it had suffered constant nerf - at first you can attack during a kick, then you can only attack right after a kick, and now we have 650, which only allows you to attack after the stun effect brought by kick. In previous versions, kick acted as an anti-turtle attack well since it can penetrate any kind of defence, and can be connected with an attack, but now I'm seeing turtle tactics again, since the best anti-shield attack has been rendered useless.

So I'm confused: What is kick supposed to be? Kicking gets you immobilized, unable to attack, able to penetrate defense within a very short range but delivers very low damage (15 to naked opponent before and 10 now). Such disadvantage but almost no reward, and it might even interrupt your action by accidental double w input. In one on one fights you can't count on it to do decisive damage or gain tactial advantage, and in two on one situation you don't even need it. The only thing that it capable now is help keeping your distance with your opponent, and in doing this you will risk much more than you wish.
 
WRONG, this time it takes more skills and timing. You can hold up an attack but you cannot attack during the kick animation, if you do let go off the attack during the kick animation it will cancel. However if you continue holding up the attack just after the kick animation you could do the same thing as before.
 
So it's just a little more skill needed, I see. I'll try it out later, thank you.

Edit: It worked, but I have a little doubt if the timing will be affected by ping. And I found you can kick even defending with a shield now.
 
I kick bots and then stab them with my pike. Works great, apart from that the pike does no damage from that close and I die anyway.
 
Kick is a situational attack, a lot of the time it just opens you up and gets you killed-  but you can interupt an attack, kick people off ledges and harrass a turtler.
 
Kicks are great for closer quarters, on siege 3 i always kick when ever i see an opening just gotta time it right.
 
Whole point of the kick was to allow you to make some distance from a hugger. As it is now it accomplishes that goal.
 
when I do it it doesn't knock them back it just stuns them and does some damage if they're naked. It's really not very useful right now, unless you're testing SP and you just kick all the naked bots that come at you...

It's especially useless if you have any ping whatsoever, in which case the kick usually doesn't land even though they're right in front of you.
 
I've tried kick out today. It is completely useless now. You can't knock your opponent back far enough, you can't connect an attack after it, and by attempting to do this you'll be left open and defenseless, you can't even do any damage if your opponent has a leather armour. And since the attack animations of sword-shield combo had been sped up siginificantly, now the only way to counter turtle tactic in a duel is a once and for all feint.
 
kick is good, i'm even able to attack unblocked enemies after i kick them.  only thing which is ABSOLUTELY STUPID is that doulbe w tap. because you always have to stop moving before kicking, which makes kick much more useless in situations, when the fight is dynamic (and most of the fights are dynamic with a lot of footwork). if kick was keybinded separately, it would work just great. if you have to stop before kicking, it just won't help you against hugger (as sbdy mentioned here), because hugger is usually running around you.
 
Kick, if nothing else, usually makes your opponent take a second to reset himself. I've found that when someone's "spamming" (hate that word) attacks really quickly on me, a swift kick in the nuts will usually make them stop. It's also good for kicking people off of high ledges, which is hilarious. :grin:

Ive pulled that one a few times-  most memorable was when i was outnumbered 3-1 on the walls of castle 1 as a swad vs nords-  I killed one guy with a lucky stab,  kicked another off the castle and into a mob of angry swadians, then had a nice duel with the last :grin:

personaly i think the kick is just right,  great for occasional tactical attacks-  but not good enough to be a regularly used and powerfull move.

For instance, just today I was dehorsed, and being  overtaken by an angry nord spitting out something how I "killed his blood brother" and how "a thousand deaths wouldn't be good enough for me" and something about my afterlife containing "burning hot prongs pressed to me sensitive bits." Clearly he was overreacting

Unfortunately for me, I still had my useless lance drawn out and he was coming at me with his short sword. My only option was to kick the bugger and switch to my side arm to take out the unreasonable buggar.

To me, the kick is hard to use but once mastered it is very rewarding. (LOLOL kicking an armored guy into a corner then continuously kick lock him)
