No it isn't. A carpetbagger was an American northerner who moved to the south post-Civil War.

Yes, but it is a derogatory term used by southerners who hated northerners, and is therefore discriminatory. But seeing as "discriminator" isn't an actual word, I used this. The .gif can get annoying, though.

There is a difference between having discriminating tastes (ie. a dislike of Yankee Carpetbaggers who descended upon the South after the Civil War like a pack of buzzards on a dead groundhog) and discriminating against someone.

The term originated as a description of the suitcases/bags made of carpet patterns carried by the previously-described Northerners.

For some reason I assumed you were in Britian :???:

Must be because of Ruthven Barracks in Scotland (between Stirling and Inverness somewhere, iirc). 13 British soldiers held off a Scottish army (it forgot to bring artillery).

EDIT: Jorvik in York was kind of neat, the smells were, interesting. I had nothing better to do anyways, talthough I got lost trying to find it and ended up taknig an unintended walk along most of the city wall. There's someone who had like a dozen cats sitting outside their backdoor by the wall too.

York is a pretty cool place to visit. They also have a city dungeon too, and plenty of historical stuff, including the site of the biggest massacre of Jews in the British Isles, the National Railway Museum, the Automata museum and of course the Minster.

Automata museum? What? I didn't read about that anywhere :???: Same with the dungeon.

York's castle has a nice view. Well, what's left of the keep. Except they stuck this gift store inside that rather clashes with the rest of the keep.

I went on one of the Ghost Tours which was fun, the guide was quite enthusiastic. You can get a reduced price on the ticket to that guy's tour and the Jarvik museum via the YHA (which is a nice place to stay, despite two busses of children that were staying there at the time).
