I was thinking of buying the game for Christmas or something. Youtube vids of it look good, but I have a question about the Space Stage. With each planet, do you colonize them like the Empire or whatever it is stage? And are the species unique on every planet?

It is an incredibly simplistic and dumbed down game. I got all the way to the Space Age without being able to read ANYTHING (played it at a friend's in Germany, and I can't read German).

You need to terraform the planet to a stable ecosystem, then you just drop a colony on it.

I don't think every planet has unique lifeforms, but there's a massive variety of them. During terraforming you need to add two species to a planet at each stage (one predator or omnivore, one herbivore) plus vegetation.

Randomly chosen from the Maxis servers, which currently has about 154,852,058 creations uploaded. I assure you, 150,000,000 of them are ****.

I recommend looking at the best creatures, adding some really good authors to your friends list, then setting your options to Child Safety mode. This makes it so only friend's creations will appear.

Personally I love it.

It wasn't all it was hyped up to be, but that doesn't make the content that is there less fun. 'Sides, I imagine it's cheaper these days. Get it and the expansions and there's fun to be had.

Especially if you're someone like me who can sit there making planets all days with the adventure editor.

Game was too simple and repetitive to be fun for me. With the exception of galaxy mode perhaps. Seriously, the most fun would be from the editor but even there it feels way to limited compared to what you got to play with before the game was released.

They left soooo many options and potential unused, and everything between the first and the final stage is just rubbish...

The 160 million "unique" creations are 75 million walking dicks, 75 million walking pairs of tits, 5 million imitations of humans or video game characters and maybe 5 million genuinely interesting creatures...

From what I have played at a friend I would say that it's too easy and too short. I would have loved to stay in certain stages for a longer time. (basicly every stage but the cell stage - dunno about space stage though) More skills and stuff.

I'd say it's worth about 20-30 bucks. It's not a fantastic game but you can have a lot of fun building creatures and objects and populating the galaxy with them.
