Question about Units

Do different units have different health or strengths? Like there are 3 different types of line infantry, does it matter which one I choose or are they all identical? I noticed some have swords other don't and it makes sense to go the unit with the sword if all things are identical but I wasn't sure on the stats between units. Thank you.

By the way, ironflesh gives you more HP, crossbows gives you better firearms accuracy, polearms is a bayonet skill (It makes you stab faster i think), 1H is one handed weapons (swords), powerstrike gives you more melee damage and athletics makes you move faster (on foot).
