hey guys, im trying to install the basic version 2.3, installing into Native
however the instruction about editing the txt file were not very clear

firstly for the module.ini it says:
Add these lines to your module's ini file in the #animations column, UNDER ( load_resource = full_plate_armor ), right near the bottom just below "load resource = valleyprops":

works_with_version_min  = 1000
works_with_version_max  = 1011
which is different, so where should i add those load_mod_resource lines?

secondly for the item_kinds1.txt it says:
*Important* RAISE YOUR ITEM COUNT TOTAL (IT'S AT THE TOP OF THE ITEM KINDS1) LIST BY 1579
however my game crash on start when doing this, some post says i need to add by 1556 and i don't get a crash for this value,
however is this the correct value?

and also i was wondering if the basic version made any change to trooptrees, cos in custom battle and towns, the troop for each faction still look the same
so are the mercenaries. is it supposed to be like this???

and lastly i was wondering if the sieges in this mod have more than 1 ladder, cos in Native there's only 1 ladder for sieges and it gets crowded really soon
getting up to the castle is a nightmare.

1) You can edit your posts by clicking the "modify" button at the top right. No need to ever double post.

2) Do read the stickies in the board, some of your questions are addressed there.

3) For the module.ini, place the lines near the bottom of the file and they should work fine. I place them after all of the load_resource declarations.

4) For the module.ini, comment out/remove whatever lines you find from the instructions. Don't worry about the ones you don't...as the instructions say, some module.ini's will have different lines (depending on what you're adding Floris basic to)

5) For the item_kinds1.txt, the Support thread includes a correction--it was actually just repeated in one of the most recent posts. Only 1578 items are added, not 1579. So subtract one from the number instructed.

6) Floris Basic does not alter any troop trees, though there are troop tree sub-mods you could download and apply to it.

7) See the download/info thread for the mods added. Among them are some new siege scenes which may increase the number of ladders. Some of those that did were removed, unfortunately, because they were highly bugged...but there still are some new scenes included.

8 ) An edited module.ini or item_kinds1.txt are not uploaded anywhere that I am aware of to try and minimize confusion and maximize the flexibility of Floris Basic. As it stands, it can be added to many mods (see the Floris Basic PLUS thread, stickied, above) and just giving the instructions allows folks to do so.
 
thx, it worked so far

however can i still play multiplayer with the basic pack? i tried to join a server but then got a CTD as soon as i entered
 
you just have to join a server that use the same mod that you currently use.....  just switch from one server to the other in the small sliding menu  before you start the game  ( it's on the screen where you have

but the problem is that the basic pack only modifies the native module folder, it doesn't have an extra mod folder
so if i need to play the basic version, i still need to select native from the module list.
problem is that when i join a server i got instant ctd, is there any fix for this????

Simply make a copy of your Native folder and rename it to "Floris Basic". Or add Floris Basic to another mod...see the Floris Basic PLUS thread, stickied, above for more details.

Always better to leave a clean version of Native. I wouldn't recommend adding Floris Basic directly to Native, myself.
 
Alright, i fixed the too many variations on mesh copy.... you're gunna hate me..... I forgot to delete the directions for inserting new items. I just copied and pasted all of it, so it thought the first word of the directions, "Copy," was a mesh. my bad.


the problem now is that when I load the module, it's just native. No changes as far as I can tell. The only thing I tried to test with was seeing if I could see the guildmaster from the town menu (that's a feature, right? I swore I saw it on the list), and no luck. It looks exactly like native. Am I being an idiot? I'm gunna try renaming the folder and re-installing it
 
Basic adds items, changes banners, and makes the towns/arenas/castle scenes look a bit nicer.
It doesn't change map textures, etc. But you should be able to tell right away that the lords have different banners.

i really enjoy the kickass music in it!!!!
