Actually, my understanding is that spreading the skills equally is still useful. I thought that .808 uses a system where skill points are averaged in some manner. Could someone clarify that for me?
Party skills are penalised if there's a large gap between the skill level of the character and that of the hero. In order to make full use of an NPC's skills, you need to put some skill points into it yourself.
Personally, I think that it shouldn't be that way...I mean, me being blind won't stop Borcha from seeing the enemy and telling me...or my incompetence wont stop Marnid from saving one of my men...

lol maybe. If your nearly blind and borcha sees the enemy, you may not believe him and therefore ignore him -_-
But overall i think the skill gap penalty is ok to have. Its not...one of the best features though
