First of all, great mod, just beautiful mechanics changes, this has invalidated the desire to play every other mod out there because I can no longer be assed with trying to keep recruits alive. Hell, I've been enjoying this mod so much that I'm posting again in years.
How does Silverstag utilise the pt_kingdom_n_reinforcements_(a-l) lines in party_templates.txt to determine the king, lord, town and castle composition? I'm wondering this mainly because I've been completely rebuilding the kingdom troops for personal flavour.

It uses them for the initial stocking (and rebuilding) of garrisons.
At game creation a lord's party receives its initial grouping of men from those templates.

One thing to keep in mind if you build new troops is that they should have roughly the same kind of function as the originals if you want lords to hire them in an intelligent manner.  This isn't a strict rule so much as an infantry unit should replace an infantry unit.  Lords hire units directly by name (vs. via template) based on whether they need more infantry, archers, cavalry or horse archers and then they do so by buying the best version of that type of troop they can get wherever they are.  Thing is, they're scripted to know what units are which and in what priority they're good to hire based on their current design.
