Question about Archery Damage mods

Hi all,
I found Mount & Blade a bit ago, and I must say I am really impressed.  I'm really surprised I haven't seen a game like this sooner, its just so much fun to play!  I've always been a fan of games like Medieval Total War but this game really puts you in the middle of the action.

Anyways, a question.

I've been searching for answers, but for whatever reason the search function doesn't seem to ever get me where I want to be on these forums.

So, I'm wondering how to make ranged weapons in general more deadly.  I've modified the amount of troops that can be on the battlefield at once, so often 100+ guys will be charging at each other on the battlefield only to have maybe about 2-3 guys die from archers before the armies clash.  My question is: how do I change this to make arrows and bolts much more deadly?  Are there mods already out there that do this? Or preferably how can I change this myself, so that Archers are something to be feared rather than an annoying reason to carry a shield into battle.

Thanks for any help

Thanks, but when I found that, it seems it doesn't support version 1.01, which is what I am playing.  There is another one I found, but it seems everyone is saying "Just use the module system", but I have no idea how that works.  I'll try the "ItemEditor V0.79", but I'm curious as to the difference between using this tool and downloading the module system.

Actually, the module system is probably the most buggy modding medium ever devised.

The item editor works fine with 1.011.

my mod, the blades of valiance has deadlier ranged weapons, download it when I release it.
or you can get the Item editor and increase the damage.

Yeah I used the item editor and made things work out a little better.  I also made crossbows fire straighter and with a higher velocity.  They're painfully slow in actual combat, and they cant be used on horseback, so it makes sense they should be powerful, like they actually were.

Bows are still great though, since they do a little more damage and are much more practical since you can reload / fire on the move.

Anyways thanks guys.

For you maybe. It's onlt ever buggy if you write an incoherent code, which you seem to have the uncanny ability to do.

another way to go at this is to increase the archery and/or throwing/firearms skills of your missile troops.  you can get the Troop Editor for this (can't vouch for its working on 1.0+ though as i still play .960).  i checked the skills of archers in Native and Hegemony 268 BC, they're quite low.  put their Archery to 200 and you'll start seeing mayhem happen.

hope this helps ...

I may try to up Archer skills, but its much nicer to just make all the weapons better so that your character can use them as well.

Anyways thanks for the help, I know how to edit items which is very helpful!

Buggy? It's a fantastic piece of work and ridiculously easy to use.
