Well, since I don't use Steam, I don't think joining the group will affect me all that much

You are free to do whatever you like, however all of the news and announcements that are posted on the steam page are also posted on this thread.

So why bother joining if I can just read those without being a member?

As a member of the Roleplayers Guild, we will be (And doing so as I type this right now) working with one another to create successful and fun roleplay events for the HCRP community. As a guild member, you will have easier access to communicate, organize, and play with other serious roleplayers.

Like I mentioned, several of us are currently brainstorming a couple of concepts to be used as an event. If you are apart of the guild, you would also be able to collaborate with us.

Nationality: American
Fluent Languages (English required): English
Gender (Optional): Male
Steam ID: Bluflash
Three characters most commonly used:
-Jaymes Fenn
-Ulfrick the Bastard
-
Persistent World servers most active on:
-United HCRP
-
-
Brief example of your roleplay (Screenshots, threads, etc.):
- Ulfrick was in Frirderich's Ironfoot RP faction, and Jaymes generally tries to run an RP traders faction in game. I can post more if necessary. (morning, low creativity)

How did you hear about the Roleplayers Guild?
Morgana's original threat

Why do you wish to become apart of this sub-community?
I see PW as a great stage, absolutely brimming with potential. This is often squashed by people who use the HCRP server as TDM. By organizing I hope we can improve the server.

Do you have any possible conflicts that may interfere with your activity on Persistent World and participation within the guild?
Real world law student   but I'm often on at peak time.

Do you use and frequent Teamspeak servers? (Not required, but highly recommended)
Ive logged on a few times, but i rarely see anyone there... perhaps im in the wrong channel?

By estimate, how active are you in Persistent World? (In-game, steam, forums, etc.)
I'd say a 7. Excepting this last week, I'm usually on most nights around peak time, and I stay up to date on the forums.

Do you have any interest in one or more voluntary positions within the guild? If yes, list in order of interest:
Not at this time due to RL time constraints

What can you offer to the Roleplayers Guild and your fellow roleplayers?
A player who is fervently for making the best use of the PW system for creative roleplay, and putting the HCRP back in the HCRP

*** By filling out this application and signing my name below, I hereby agree to conduct myself in a positive and productive manner around my fellow roleplayers as well as other members of the Persistent World community. I also understand that as a member of the Roleplayers Guild, I represent myself and my associates with my actions, and any inappropriate behavior or misconduct may lead to me being barred from the guild, and possible disciplinary action being taken against me by the administration. ***

I see...

Hm, if I can ever defeat my laziness I'll consider it

The framework of three roleplay ideas has been posted! Please take the time to vote for the idea that you would like to be made into our first event.

No offense, but since when did roleplay become a soap opera?

Like I said, they are still ideas/concepts to be developed further. Once we get a good idea of what the community would like to see in the event, then we can chisel out the details. But I ask , why do you compare these storylines to soap operas?

Intrigue, betrayals, love, the works. None of this stuff happens in real life. That's why its in soap operas.

Oh, Game of Thrones is not a good representation of medieval society either.

Well, I didn't see any evidence of "love" in the events we drafted. Stealth and backstabbing yes, but are you trying to tell me that people don't manipulate others for their own personal gain in real life?

Never watched it.

No, but it's simplified and more easily re-created; you're basically either a King, a Lord, a Knight, or a *****- or you exist outside the system, like Ser Zykaster or the Suspicious Brotherhood. It really is kind of similar to PW, actually, because in reality every noble is just a Lord and his power is dictated in large part by how much land (cap flags), men (players), and resources (gold) they have- things like King are just pleasantries and in reality you have to be the strongest Lord to keep that position.

EDIT: Would you guys be willing to work with me to refine the Sherwood event? PM me if you're interested, I'mma need RolePlayRars for it if it's t'work any who.

I have to say, I like none of the suggestions

All of which could easily end up dominated by combat, which will be the case, looking
at the PW community.

Application coming... some time in the future

With the "soap opera" aspect, I have less problems.
You could say that the film Titanic is soap operish, that
doesn't make it bad.

They are only suggestions, and I'm more than willing to hear you out with any ideas you may have. If you'd like to share, feel free to send me a private message.

Well, I have no concrete idea but what about putting everyone in the same faction?
It's usually what worked best for all the RPs I'd been in.

For example: a noble is considering whether or not he should ally with the clearly
superior invaders to save his people and the court is struggling with embessadors
from all sides bringing their cases forth.

The invasion is never actually going to happen (in the RP part anyway, I'm sure
someone could do a shieldwall event or something) but the discussion is there
none the less.

Of course, this would require preset roles, since otherwise egos just clash again
and we get the same chaos and shouting like in the first attempts at serious
RP on the United server.

I think if we develop on the idea, it would prove to be a fine event. I personally do not mind a roleplay without combat, but I cannot speak for myself to represent the rest of the "HCRP" community. From my past experiences and observations, a good portion of the player base does not have the interest or attention span to remain in a non-combat environment for an elongated period of time (Sad and unfortunate, yet true), therefore keeping the door open to a little bit of confrontation is all that is needed to spice things up and keep people interested.

I'm surprised you did not enjoy Idea #2: Misconceptions. In my opinion, this event leaves the most room for non-combat roleplay, as well as some intrigue and playing politics. The whole objective of the event is find a way to solve the murder of the Duke before the two Counts meet on the battlefield.

The thing is that most will play it like this:

"My name is *****, you killed my father, prepare to die."
*Fight, fight, fight*

Also a very true and likely outcome, but not if we can prevent it. That is why we will be finding reliable players to take on the roles of the more notable characters. Like I had stated earlier today, the invitation still stands Serann; your input and opinions will prove beneficial to the guild.
