I'm wondering what would happen if someone let lose a bull in the middle of that square.

Hah, even if their protesting, those Spaniards still look like they're partying to me.
Olé olé olé!

If you guys see any links to protests around Europe, plz post as I am interested if there are any trends developing there.

what they even protest about? crappy economy? if they are going to ask for the EU bailouts then i'd guess its the Greece/Ireland/Portugal and ****ing angry EU trend.

Spain has a 25% unemployment rate I think and the sentiment is that the people no longer trust the two main parties to represent them.

They can't even speak their own language right. Lisps are the mutanty, revolting exception, not the norm, Spain!

No way Pillock, Spanish Spanish is the only respectable Spanish.

Spanish Spanish is bad Spanish. Peruvian Spanish is respectable Spanish. However I agree that Mexican Spanish is particularly poor Spanish.

Lol every single time there is a post about some issue around the world or rather, a string of denunciations and ridicule follows, after which the intellectual arguments brake out, after which follows the pony porn spam.

lol ok, any MAJOR protests that number in the thousands.

Now if there is one thing that Spanish blood is good for its El revolution.

As an Argentine, what I see is those protests resemble a lot the ones we had on 2001, after several years of economic problems. Spain has an unemployment rate similar to the one we had back then (21%). The slogan of our protest was "Que se vayan todos!" ("Everyone has to leave"), referring to politicians. Spaniards are angry against their politicians, and they blame the two major parties (PSOE and PP) for most of their problems. The target of our protest also were the political parties. 10 years later, most of our political parties are still damaged from the fallout that ensued (we had 5 presidents over the next 2 weeks).

People compare these protests to the one on the Middle East, but I think it's very inaccurate.

without the weight of of real historians and political scientists backing the protestor's claims, they'll never be taken seriously. that's the problem with most protests. they're mobs of angry children demanding candy from the self fulfilling father figure.

what they need is a coherent argument.

"we want lower taxes" isn't convincing. they should say "we want lower taxes because of such and such factors which have shown to affect our standard of living to such and such degree. if they're arguing on matters of principle they should show how it is bad and why the government needs to take action instead of presuming that everyone shares their moral views. and if it's a widely accepted view, they should argue why it benefits the government to impose them on the rest of the people.

At least your Government didn't invade the Falklands trying to distract your citizens again.
