Yep.. I am having the same problem. The unofficial editor does not work with the new version.

It crashes like... above!

I think this error is actually because jik has several models that have the same mesh name like: falchion
I had the same error in 7.11 and I renamed the falchion to falchion_b using the brfview tool.

Hi, if you still want a meshing challenge, how about some ancient siege guns/engines to be used as props in my 'capture the xyz' missions? These are based on the capture nobleman quest, but I'm making an unkillable troop type as @convoy commander@ and once you capture him, you get to look at the big shiny cannon / hulking war engines and say @oh goody, Yaroglek WILL be pleased!@

If somebody is up to it, what I would really like to see in the game is some woden palisade walls, It wouldn't have to be something fancy, but one piece of modular wall with a place you could stand would be perfect, we could just put a bunch of them and they could go around certain towns, somehow I see some of those vaiger towns with pallisade walls rather then stone. It would also be a big help to modders.

Anybody feel like trying?
One piece of modular wall with standing platform,

And if somebody is really up to it,
A gatehouse and tower

Ok.

I'll make 3 wall types:
1 - GateHouse (well you have to have a door right? I will try to make this)
2 - wall straight
3 - wall curved (90 degrees for a corner, or do you want square corners?)

From the pics it looks to be about 12 feet tall (or 2 times the hieght of a man), with the platforms half way up. I guess that on the outside (the bottom pic) is mostly rock?

After you confirm this I'll make the wall pieces.

Up to you, I think if we had these it would be widely used on a variety of mods. The pics are actually two differnt types of walls but both together as you suggested would be great. Stone base with a wooden wall, aproxemetly twice the hight of a man. Wow thanks a bunch.

They'd probably use about 9 ft. of tree and make the stone wall 4 ft. tall. That's my thoughts anyways...

Anyone wanna make a throwing weapon of disembodied heads?

jik are you saying youll make wooden pallisade walls? (*thumps head to make sure ears are working*)
amazing, I love people in this modding community, thats just what I need!

I dont suppose that someone could make this for 1066, Norman Invasion?
A scramasax
heres a pic...

nb. do you mind me using the pallisade walls as well? I been craving one of them since stonewalled city centres came out ruining the historical accuracy of my mod

if that's roughly the size of a knife, ya I can make that. If not I'd need to know the aprox. length.

And yes, anyone can use any object/item I make, as long as they give credit.

I'll get on it.

one quick question on the structure of the palisade... should I make individual logs? To me this would look nicer, but if you were to use this in a battle, it would be a lot of wasted polies... I have a texture I could use for a solid wall. I will start on that first.

Your right individual logs would look nice, but chances are that this will be used mostly on large maps like cities or battles, so if probably be better for a low poly version

Oh and make sure that if somone is standing on the platform that they can shoot a bow over the top, either that or make crenelations in the wood.

I've never seen a palisade with crenelations.

To get a good field of fire, the wall should be at most 1 unit high above the platform - just above waist high. Otherwise it's hard to get an angle on the enemy as they get close to the wall.

here's a 1st draft.

On the platform, the wall come up just past the waste, but the BO collisions could exclude the "spikes" at the top. The rock base is a seperate mesh. I read somewhere that you can make combinable objects using _a, _b, _c etc. in the names, but I can join them if you want.

I can easily make this a curved piece (90 degree corner), or should I aim for a squared corner/tower thing? I can do both, so maybe that's what I'll do (since the corner is a simple bend)

any suggestions at this point?

You could use any of the below existing textures:

soft_stone

ground_stone

limestone

wall3

for the rocks part.

Looking through the whole thread, I haven't seen anything for studded leather amors! I was wondering if someone could make something in the vein of braveheart, which would be awesome

I gotta say though, I havent checked all the mods in progress to see if anyone has done something like that. Great work all you artists

[edit] I think what would be cool is if this armor offered more protection than normal leather, but also more freedom of movement (less weight, more speed) than heavier, more protective armors.

wow looks great jik, thanks for going to the effort, Yeah I agree a small tower would be better then a curved section. Think of the pallisade tower off of Age of empires II age of kings, it was just a square version of your wall, mabye put one hole in one side, so we can put a ramp or ladder to it.

Again thanks alot for doing this.
