I hope you don't mind my asking, but will Alaric von Bruhaha still be featured?
He was great! Haha.
Also, I wait with respectful anticipation for this release. Luckily I have other things to occupy my life until then. But when PoP3 comes out.... Well, I'm not going outside. :u
Great job and we all appreciate you's non [gender specific] work!

Alaric von Brouhaha is still with us, as is the Peasant Army which sometimes spawns whether he does or not.  You will find the fighting skills of both armies considerably enhanced.  Our buddy Alaric is NOT a pushover any more but he's still his funny, boozed-up self.

Is his army armed with many many cracked board shields (for annoyance) long pointy things (like pikes) and tons and tons of hunting bows and crossbows?

Cause it's always a peasant that headshots me to death, never the sharpshooters, oh no >.> it has to be a peasant that scores a lucky hit...

I don't know why people can't wait.      I can wait. I'm waiting for 5 months! And I can wait more. You know why, because:

Better do something later, once and good, than do something early and with tens of bugs.

Pop 3 will be masterpiece and it needs a lot of work. You know what people feel, when they (creators of great games) do something good. They feel many things. For example:
1. Satisfaction.
2. Smile on the face.
3. And this wonderful feeling when you do something good for people.

^ All right, but only if mod is at last released, you know about TLD port for 1.011, it's like Duke Nukem Forever...

We are already testing and debugging PoP 3 Beta 5, for heaven's sake.  Of course this will not be like TLD!  SD is still aiming for end of June/early July, last I heard, for release.  HOWEVER, if there are problems or new bugs crop up, it might not be that soon.  All I can say, is that there is more stuff to implement, ipso facto, more stuff to test and debug.

Surely it is worth waiting for a quality, (hopefully) mostly bug-free mod with many new features!  We are still trying to see how far we can push the engine and not cause crashes or problems for people with lower-end or older systems.  That takes time and much testing.

Ah, I'm not insinuating that it's so long time to release etc, in fact I'm surprised that mod is made so fast  I just think that rule " Better do something later, once and good, than do something early and with tens of bugs." put by Skrzetuski is not always good, especially for players. The best is to find compromise between time of production and new features(and bugs) and I hope PoP3 will be good example of that golden mean.

Hehe
I think whats happened is that Skrzetuski misinterpreted Volkodav's post, he wasn't saying Nooooooo! the mod is going to take to long, he was saying it is coming out too early and he'll miss out on summer cos he'll be closeted inside getting pwned by Noldors.

I think everyone here is happy to wait as long as it takes. PoP doesn't need an open beta, they have it sorted. I watch this thread like a salivating hawk and apart from the occasional annoying "blah blah blah warband" post, this is one of the most positive, happy threads I've seen in the mod forums - for something so awesome coming out (look at any of the TLD threads for example if you wanna see e-drama)

Considering a fair number of the bug fixes I've seen on other mods in the past are not savegame compatible, waiting until the mod is tested to developer satisfaction is far from a bad idea.

Guys and gals comparing POP with TLD is ...well completely wrong. TLD is taking months and months and seems like nothing is moving on the other side POP devs are charging on like maniacs - some even armed with AK47's  The mod if u ask me is completed already it's just testing that takes time and honestly playing POP untested would be a major pain. The devs will have to squash bugs anyway, now they do it before release and we all enjoy epic mod a few weeks later, or they can release it now and then we will be *****in about if for weeks. BUT the major diference where POP and TLD is comepletely incomparable is the forums topics and working with the community - TLD completely fails here, not to mention devs there being hostile at best if you ask a question. BTW I do hope TLD gets released since all I know is that it was the best mod of it's time and I hell like LOTR mods. If it ever gets released I think POP and TLD will be the best 1.011 mods for sure.

I too hope the release is near and keep my fingers crossed for the devs!

@Fawzia -

FYI - no need to test it on mobile phones

Yeah.
Team of PoP is working very fast. For example on Rus XIII century I was waiting for about 9 months.

eehm  What is TLD? If you could tell me.

We aren't testing it on mobile phones.

The thing is, we ran into an issue that seems to affect ATI users a lot more than Nvidia users and are trying to sort that out.  We also, as I said, somewhat overstrained the game engine, and are making adjustments.  We have a variety of machines amongst the Dev Team and testers, some high end, some older and lower end.    The goal is to make it playable on most levels of machine, except true antiques or grossly underpowered machines,  without sacrificing some great features.

The bones of the mod are pretty well in place, the devil is in the details.  SD has more specialty spawns to put in and a bunch of quests to add in before the next beta test, AFTER he and MadVader sort bugs in the current Beta 5.  Some of the new spawns are going to be great fun to fight, too, but none will be pushovers!  Pendor has gotten even more dangerous, expecially for beginners in the game.  Once you get levelled up, you'll still be challenged.  The end game will no longer be boring, either - that's a problem in M&B Native and many mods - when you are nearly there, it sort of gets tiring just to keep on taking the last few castles and whacking the odd bandit group.

The rgl errors: "can't find mesh xyz" and stuff like that, while not game-breaking, are really annoying.  Poland S is right - not one beta has been save-game compatible and many of the problem fixes - had the mod released prematurely - would have also been non-save compatible.  SD does not want to have to do a gazillion patches as bug reports pour in after he releases the mod.  There may still be bugs when PoP 3 is released, but we hope that any needed patches will be save-game compatible.  At least we will know that the more egregious problems that are game-breaking have been fixed before the release, exploitable loopholes will be closed, things which cause CTDs will be fixed.  It takes a lot of time to monitor bug reports and SD is running out of time.  MV wants to get going on his Warband ( see "Warband blah, blah, blah" posts) port, not spend lots of time on bugs in PoP 3 for 1.011.

It just poped in my mind - in 1.011 there's a problem of forest battles, it allways laggs, no matter how good your PC is. And I heard that it could be easily fixed, by editing some lines in scenes.txt (I may be mistaken) or even by deleting the _forest word.
Just wanted to ask have the PoP team manage to fix the forest battles? Or you didn't even had such goals?

Speaking of which, would you guys mind sharing what you have planned for new quests?

@trueten: That is Native and there is nothing we can do about it, or about cavalry getting stuck behind rocks and trees.

@Volkodav: Yes, we would mind, as we don't want to be murdered by SD for giving out info he has not authorized to be given out. Suffice it to say that Player is going to have some hard choices to make and have to deal with the outcome of those choices.
