Did you modify any troops or items?
Or.. are you running any other module as an "add-on" with this?

Can someone maybe email me, or reply here or private message me or something.
I got the game last week, cant stop playing it, havent slept more then 4 to 5 hours per day.
But something was missing, and I saw the mods section and almost died with all the mods out there.
This one in particular caught my attention for just how huge and wonderful it was.
BUT.  Always that word, anyways.  I made a character, got into the game and traveled a bit collection recruits for my little mercenary company when lo and behold I meet
some "Treasure Hunters" in battle.
Suffice it to say they handily dispatch me and all my troops (Recruits yes, but we did have them outnumbered 2 to 1).
I got enslaved.  Ran around the map for about 15 minutes of game time.  Literally a huge amount of time.
I finally escape and I go about doing what I had just done, with no money this time.
Got my little group together and hey!  Look! More treasure hunters!!
Oh hey look there almost fully 1 pt faster then I am on the map, and hey they caught me, and yep, imprisoned again.
This time only 5 minutes as a prisoner before I got released.  Did that stop me?  Nope I kept going, trying again and again to get some troops together.
The next battle was against demon worshipers or some such, and yep, you guessed it, imprisoned.  I have a level 25 knight on native.  What am I doing wrong here??

Hello Ironwolf,

At the top of this page is a link to a wiki where there is a wealth of information including a strategy guide that will be very helpful.  Here is the link:  http://popmod.wetpaint.com

In a nutshell.. this mod is designed to be very challenging and for players who have played native and run over it.  Saying that, there are things in this mod you want to avoid when you first start out.  Renegade Knights (the Treasure Hunters) and Demon Worshipers (Heretics) are among them.

A Knight in Native is about the equivalent in stats and skills as a footman in Pendor.

Initially play tag with the various looters, bandits and get some troops under you.  Read the strategy guide and this will help you better understand the game world and what is what.

Best,

Saxondragon

The Jatu are horrific!!!!

That said Ive survived to level 10 and have a decent little group with me.

One off topic question is, how do I get the skills of my part to effect me in town?

I have one character with like 7 trading, yet when I sell stuff I get HORRIBLE prices for them.  Plus it doesnt seem any of the other skills really help, only skills
that I have.

Ironwolf

Not that I know of, I usually only go back to major cities to rest, then I rest until everyone is well and sell and rearm etc.

Its wierd, because I will get the loot from a battle and it will show buy worth being say 2000, then I will go to sell and
only get 400 or so for it.  I guess thats standard?  I dunno.  In native I usually got around 50% with a level 3 trade skill.

Nothing has changed from native in this regard Ironwolf...the ratio has not been modified.

I have some questions.

Is there a way i can get farmers for making pendor recruits?

Which Kingdom would be best to wage war with a mixed army of cavalry and footmen but mostly cavalry?

You can make pendor recruits from farmers and refugees.  They are prisoners of most bandits and minor factional spawns.

Any.. since you can mix and match... and your companions can serve as the cavalry.
Sarleon and Ravenstern seem to be favorites for this explicitly.

Mostly Cav beats anything be it Sarleon, Ravenstern, Fierdsvain or the Empire. Even D´Shar since they got more foot than horse.

So should i recruit from the nearest kingdom that doesn't hate me to raise a army?
If you're not particular about what units you want... always recruit what you want, if you have no idea of where to start experiment.

Is there a downloadable history and so on file for this game?

Somethieng I can print out and read on the go?

Ironwolf

PS If you need help with voice overs, testing or just whatever.  Ive never worked with this mod stuff for this game, but did alot of Neverwinter Nights 2.
So Id be more then willing to help.  I do love this mod.

Yes, it is the large word document you have already downloaded in the module directory.

One last question, I see these Units have levels, like the Legionnaire.

Once they get that title do they stop leveling?  Or can I have really awesome long lived,
higher level legionnaires?

Ironwolf

All units of the same type are the same level, so no there aren't Legionnaires that are more experienced than other Legionnaires. Only the main character and hero/companions actually hit every level.

Ok so I have a level 23 main character, with 290 one hand weapon skill, level 5 shield, iron skin, power strike and athletics.

My sword is speed 105, reach 108.

I get knocked off my horse and this Verskall Warrior attacks me, Im thinking oh fun.

Suddenly the axe this guy is carrying is hacking like a jack hammer, no matter how much I block I cant get one hit in.

How the heck do they attack so darn fast?!!? They dont seem to need to transition at all from block to attack like I have to.

Ironwolf

You were possibly encountering the leading Jarl who used a Dragonspine Axe? They are pretty fast for an axe - same as the Knights Axes the Ravenstern Kiergards and certain Rogue Knights/Squires use. And with 290 proficiency the Jarl is still faster than you as I guess he´s having better skills than you (especially with him beeing a Jarl and you beeing nothing  ).

Agility also affects weapon speed. Every point in Agility raises weapon speed by .5%. So a person with a 110 speed weapon with 10 agility is gonna be slower than a person with a 100 speed weapon with 40 agility. (Assuming same weapon proficiencies).
110 + 5% = 117 weapon speed
100 + 20% = 120 weapon speed

In the type of situation you were in, where an enemy has a massively superior swing speed, there are two tactics I have found effective. If you're faster on foot than the enemy, and sometimes if you're not, you can try back up in a diagonal to create space and using your superior weapon length to hit them. Or wait till you see the enemy go for a thrust/overhand swing and side step while doing a left or right swing depending on which way you sidestep.
