Promotions in any Army

Hey, just started playing this mod, it's a lot of fun despite how unbelievably brutal it is.

One question that is really bugging me, and I could use an answer for is how do I advance in a lord's army? I'm currently a recruit for the Queen of the Redwood elves, but I can't seem to get to a scout. I'd love to get all the way to a Redwood Ranger, however that seems far fetched considering I can't even make it to scout. I see some sort of message saying "Your arms are too weak to join the artillery" or something like that.

Can anyone help me out here?

It means that you dont have enough of something like Powerdraw or strength for one or more of the items you get with your promotion. Unfortunately, as a Redwood soldier, you need alot of Powerdraw and Strength, and if you go for the Rider side, you will need alot of riding aswell

Any place that tells me how much more of whatever skill I need? Does it say I need "5" more powerdraw or "2" more strength anywhere?

No, i dont think so. The best i can think is knowing the stats of the troops themselves.

Talking about joining an army. Is is just me or when im in an army and we engage in battle, we tend to just circle each other for like 10 minutes? Is this the way its supposed to work or is my game glitched?

It's just lords being stupid, you can fix this by charging in yourself (They tend to charge when someone else does it first)

Retire, get the soldier, check stats, then return to the army OR use Morgh's, troops.txt, find the next unit (Like Elvarie Scout), and you can see the stats there without wasting your time to get the soldier itself.

But what stats are you supposed to match? ALL of them? Because then Redwood armies are pretty tough to advance in for most people. Most redwood archers have 20+ agility and high stats in charisma, archery and a few other places as well.

I wouldn't join any of Redwood's armies sadly, it takes too much to advance in them.

I was able to get to scout, I just needed some points in strength and powerdraw. However, I have hit another roadblock. I can't get to bowman, because it says that I require more riding skill? I have enough power draw and strength for bowman, and even enough riding to become a rider. I meet all the requirements for either of the next two classes, what's up?

yeah elven army is a little bugged. but i was able to get to the redwood knight so it is possible.

You need 5 riding for the third choice (even if you take the riders branch) and after that the big roadblock are 21 strength for level 4 anything and 27 strength for the last footman promotion. oh and its 6 riding for any promotion with a horse that is not on the third tier.

Dont trust units stats, its a load of bull****, they dont match their equipment. Also they tend to have weird mismatching stats/ability

make a save just before you think you might receive a promotion, if you cant because of anything, use the cheatmenu to level yourself up a little and get it. Look at your equipment to learn the true requirment. Then you can load your save to make it legit

I will give it a shot after school, appreciate it. So do other armies tend to work better for enlistment?
