Planning fallacy- A fancy, shorthand way of saying a project is too optimistic about the amount of time needed for completion
Project fallacy is the same concept really but encompasses cost, future revenue, outcome and timeline.
Long version you can google yourself:
Projects take longer than expected because people are overly optimistic. It is self reinforcing, because society encourages this by rewarding those with optimistic attitudes over those with realistic or pessimistic expectations. In groups optimism can feed off itself. Without a structured, statistical approach to project management completion dates can easily be pushed back due to unforeseen circumstance, poor management, or out unrealistic project goals. In some ways optimism bias is positive, optimism motivates people to start new projects and try to approaches, but it has to be tempered with reality.

Realistic expectations are something some on these forums do not have. It a juvenile attitude to say “there is a game not yet made, I want tit now, why isn’t it in my hands!?” The game isn’t finished and no one has paid for said game.
How can any of us forum dwellers make objective judgement on when the game should or could be released, what progress is being made, or even if the devs were realistic in their expectations for project completion. The only real judgement any of us are qualified to make is whether we want to play the game that is being made based on what we have seen. TW’s only obligation to the consumer is to release a product worth purchasing.
