I think that a little progress bar should pop up when you are reloading your crossbow. I'm always eager to get my next shot off, and I often try to shoot a TINY bit too early, and I am forced to reload again. Realistically, a person would know when they have finished reloading the crossbow, but in M&B it's hard to tell exactly when you're done.

I'd like the reload to be in two parts.
1. pull the string back
2. put the bolt on.
When reloading it does both parts one after another, but if you get interrupted at the halfway mark, you won't need to pull the string back again.

I agree that the crossbow reloading is a bit annoying. I'll move just before it finishes reloading, thinking that because i've just put on the bolt doesn't mean it's finished its reload animation.

I think that should be a way to show us the state of the crosbow, but I wouldn't like to see a bar. Anyway, that is a good sugestion, but not a bar, but that is better than nothing.

One of my first characters in the game was a crossbow-er, so I've never found it difficult to judge when the animation's finished. I like Ingolif's 2-part reloading idea though.

I would like to see a reload bar too, as much as i hate visual presentation like the HP and other numbers, this one makes sense since you can perfectly judge your progress in the reload.

Dude, the above idea would be seriously cool, i can already imagine the cute icons of the string and bolt and the progress bar near them.
But how would your string stay in place if you didn't put the bolt in ?

Sounds like a rediculous idea to me ( no offense ) , i just dont see it as a big enough problem to be bothered adding some bar to tell you when you can simply look at the person , hell you can see it fine if your in 1st person view anyway.

I do like Ingo's suggestion though.

You do realize that bolts don't hold the string back, correct?

There is a 'catch' system that grabs the string when it gets far enough back and when you 'fire' the crossbow the 'catch' mechanism releases the string, pushing whatever was in front of it (bolt).

Oh you meant bolt as in "projectile", in my language it also translates to widget that sticks something in place (like "bolting something down" in english)

Thanks for pointing it out.

*Blink at the poll..
LOL at the answers ::razz:
I find it is very un-nessesary to be honest. I mean its already pretty obvious enough.. Too much stuff on the screen would just confuse / ruin the feel...

Armagan should seriously consider adding a sexy woman voice saying "Crossbow reloaded" ;P

Progress bar would ruin the immersion. Once you have used it enough you know when it's finished.

Well when you reload your attention is on your reload, so i thought in lines of a warcraft (the classics, not WoW) progress bar.
Maybe i just played so much ET i got hooked to progress bars

Hahahahahhahaha
I would suppose one of thes these would have this kind of voice

Dont think a progress bar would ruin the immersion, as other interface elements like HP and combat messages don't seem to ruin it.

Normally you would know when you were done with reloading, so I think some form of feedback on that would be definitely useful. I don't care if it is a progress bar or a clicky sound indicating it's ready, or whatever.

It could be made so that once you begin reloading the crossbow, you can't move until you have finished reloading. So you could hold down the movement keys while you are still reloading, then the moment you have finished reloading you begin moving.

Then, make it so that the RMB cancels the reloading process, for the situations where you need to move quick otherwise you'll get cut to piece.
