Proficiencies for melee weapon, like polearm, two handed weapon, one handed weapon,I don't see many differences when my proficiency is 20 and 200, can anybody tell me what is the purpose of proficiency for melee weapon ??

Thx :D

Only that ??
Does it influence the damage you can deal, and when you are blocking ?
How about lance, does it make you faster when you are couching your lance ??

So someone with polearms 200+ would be a whirling blur of death when wielding a quarterstaff?

Not exactly, but they'd destroy someone who had 20+ in polearms. :P

Tbh, the only time I notice the proficiencies is when using a bow (they're really important for bows), or fighting with a two hander in tournaments. Everything else seems kind of negligible.

I'm mainly thinking about those accursed prison breaks in Towns. Castles are easy, since most of the guard are on the walls, but a town will always have 4 enemy guards.

Yeah you're always going to be screwed with that dam stick. :D

If you go to one of that towns' villages and get the village elder to start a fire, then it should be just the prison guard left in the streets. I know this used to be really hit and miss, but in 1.132 it's worked every time I've done it.

Arrrrrr, I should have tried that ages ago.

Profiency increases speed and damage. For crossbow it only increases speed.

This. The higher your proficiency in a weapon type, the faster you swing the weapon and the more damage you do per hit.

How high does your relation have to be to have the set fire option added to the list of vilage elder btw? Always wondered that.

Do you need relation? I never actually checked if I had it or not, just went to the most convenient village and paid him a bag of silver to burn down his hutch for me.

It just appears when the castle/town the village is attached to has someone in it's prison. Obviously having negative relations isn't going to help. :P

Thx for all your answers dude  :)
So when the village make a fire, only prison guard left, Do I still need the key ?
How about using couched lance, does proficiency works ??

The silly part of the jailbreak thing is that it is offered to you even when the city is yours. Obviously, it does nothing because there is no jailbreak, since the dungeon guard would never stop you, his king on your way to YOUR dungeon. And the dialogue option with the prisoner is still the hi/bye one and only
