Production Advice

I really like the new production enterprise feature but I don't think I fully understand how it works. I tried opening up a tool making business in Dhirm thinking that since iron is fairly common and relatively cheap there I could make a consistent profit. Things didn't really go as expected and I closed the enterprise. I think next time I will start an enterprise in a more remote town that is not attacked much.

Beyond that does anyone have any advice on what enterprise to buy and where and basically how this whole system works? With 2 enterprises making around 500 denars each week I could probably pay for small army and have a bit of profit left over.

Talk to the guild master about trade, look at what's in short supply (higher numbers means more desperate).

Pick one of the top production goods and build that industry.

Profit.

In addition to that, when you talk to the guild master about opening a business, he will give you an estimate of the profits it will make. Be sure to look closely at that.

You can also tell your operation to hold its product for you, and you can then collect it and trade it to a city offering high prices.

Or, if you happen to have 10,000 denars, just build the "weavery and dyeworks". This creates velvet and will give you a guaranteed 500 denars per week anywhere but Jelkala.

I have a tool making business in Dhirim, and its making an average of 500 per week.

The system is very simple. The more resources there are available, the cheaper they are to buy. The less end-products there are available, the more you will get for selling them. So all you're really looking for is a plentiful resource combined with a rare end product. However, don't get too hung up on it... things can change quickly, so you'll often see your profits go up and down quite a lot. There are a few things you can do to maximise the profits though.

- Search other towns/villages for cheap resources, buy them, and take them to your workshop.
- Order your workshop NOT to sell their goods, and instead sell them yourself in other towns where the price is higher.
- Actively patrol the areas around the town to minimise bandits and ensure farmers and caravans arrive without being attacked.
- Don't start a business in a border town with a small garrison...

filling the business inventory with the raw material you need helps cause you don't have to pay for the material again. You pay only labor and the rest is profit.

1. Build wool weaveries in Tihr, Sargoth, Wercheg... Bring wool from the south and west, cheap wool is plentiful.
2. Build linen weaveries in Durquba and Barriye, bring flax from Sargoth (and it's villages) and from the villages near Shariz-Durquba as well. All on auto-sale.
3.Build tool workshops in the Rhodok cities, bring Iron from Curaw and Ahmerrad.
4. The rest is not worth tampering with and build Silk weaveries everywhere. Bring some die if/when you find chep ones.
5. Build silk weaveries everywhere and forget about them, they will 'get' their resources out of thin air anywway.

Good luck.

P.S.. A little trick: you can use your factorie's warehouse to store anything. Went to Sargoth and found only a bunch of flax? Not worth the trouble to transport that little to Durquba? Buy them and stuff them in your local factory's warehouse. Collect later, whenever you want.
