Problem with Napolianic wars

Hi, I am new here and just bought the game, and have really enjoyed it.  I have the Warband demo installed, the only content I have bought is the napolianic wars mod.  I am able to create a custom battle and run the tutorial, but the multiplayer option is still greyed out as it was in the Demo.  When I open the game it ask's for the product key, and I give it the one I was given when I got the mod (I got it as a download from amazon.)  It says "Activation denied"  Help?

you have to buy it from steam to play multiplayer i think, a freind of mine had the same problem with a different game

So the only way I can use my purchase is to get it from steam?  And pay again?  I dont know if you can return electronic dowloads to amazon.

This may not be true.

The CD-Key they gave you was for NAPOLEONIC WARS, not Warband.

If you can find the registry for Napoleonic Wars' CD-Key, you could put it in manually,

otherwise, you may be out of luck.

Your cd-key is stored in your computer's registry. You can manually change these things.
Your computer's registry is sort of like the "options" panel for your entire computer.

anyway;

1.Click Start > Run
2.Enter regedit
3.A new window will open, browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > MountAndBladeWarbandKeys
4.Search the entry, serial_key_nw, make sure that the value is the same as your CD key. Also make sure that the key is separated correctly. Double click the entry and modify it until it is correct. Watch out for invisible spaces in the CD key.
5.If you are done with that, close the Registry Window and start the game, connect to the server and have fun playing!

First of all, thanks for your help!  Secondly, when I get into the MountAndBladeWarbandKeys file only the following things show up: Default, Activation Code, Hardware Hash, last_module_warband, and "sub" folders show up.  No trace of serial_key_nw?

You need to buy Mount&Blade: Warband.

Napoleonic wars is an expansion of M&B:Warband and for this reason you need to buy both.

It was 7 dollars instead of 10.  And I dont have a steam account.

you can buy warband from anywhere, dont need it to be steam.
