Problem With Messages

I've been having a problem with messages for several days now, and it has gotten rather annoying. Basically, when a message I'm typing gets long enough to the point where you have to scroll, the scrolling seems to mess up. When I scroll to the bottom of the message to type, it automatically goes back to the top whenever I do anything: clicking inside the message box, typing, etc, all cause the message to scroll all the way to the top.

I noticed this when I had quoted a message that contained spoilers with code, as when I scrolled to the bottom of the quote to type, it went straight back to the top when I clicked in the message box to start typing.

Any advise on what the problem might be? If it helps I'm using IE 8.

Then I'm not sure what it could be. Obviously, it doesn't bother me when I don't have to scroll, but when the message gets long enough, it starts acting up. I also haven't noticed it doing that with other forums I go to. When I scroll to the bottom and then type, it jumps to the top. When I press something else (while it is still at the top), it quickly jumps to the bottom and back to the top. Very confusing.

Luckily, I'm good enough at typing so I don't need to constantly look at the message in order to type it, and I can still check for errors when I finish typing.

It sounds like a Javascript related issue, based on your description.

However, I've tested in IE8 myself (specifically, the Windows 7 version of IE:cool: and couldn't duplicate that behavior with either the regular posting window or the quick reply box.
So...

EDIT: hang on, let me try with IE8's "compatibility mode" enabled.
EDIT 2: nope, it worked fine for me with "compatibility mode" enabled as well.

So, can you think of anyway to fix it? I tried updating a few things like Java, but it's still doing it. In fact, it's doing it as I type this message.

Java and Javascript are entirely separate and in fact have nothing to do with each other; the name similarity was simply a ploy to work on the popularity of Java at the time Javascript was made publicly available.

Anyway... What else happened around the time it started doing that? Did you update IE, or change any settings in it?
Have you tried doing a full refresh of the posting page? Have you tried "compatibility mode" just for the heck of it?

Hm. It started doing this about the same time I updated to IE 8. I had been using IE 7, and it was working fine.

I just used compatibility view, and it seems to be fixed.
