problem with mesh shadows and bending

Sergeant at Arms
This is serious since I lost hours to make my mesh. I made long trousers on an existing mesh of man body. However, first problem is the light, I can't get the same shadows on my people when they wear it as they would be on naked ones. Backs are dark, belly is light.
Second, when a character walks, trousers do not bend on knees like they shoud being attached to foots.

Any solution?

thanks for help :P

thanks, it solved shadows problem, the knee bending is another one, I figured that it's the animation that needs to be fixed.
You mean, you have trouses that act like armor, not boots? Then the problem is probably that standard armor rigging does not use foot bones at all.
Rigging specialists, please correct me, if I'm wrong
