Okay, so i have been around these forums for about 3 years, and everyone always gives new players the advice to gain money and XP fast through capturing prisoners. Personally i have never invested more than 3 points into prisoner management, netting me 15 prisoners in my party, but i typically only invest 1 point for a totally of 5 prisoners.

What i want to know is how many points do you typically invest into your prisoner management for your average character?

Typically I do 3-5.  I've never gone beyond a 15 chr, so 5 is my max on prisoners.  I typically fill that 25 slots pretty quick and use it to make money.  Now, is it needed?  No, if you have a better spot for points use it there.  I would say get at least 1 point, and no more than 5, with starting at 3 and not increasing probably being the overall most efficient use of the skill.  But, that's just my experience and based on how I play.

ya i understand you, i just stick to having only 5 prisoners most, because i know having prisoners slows you down on the map, so i can only imagine how much 15 would slow you down compared to 3-5.

I've mostly had 15, sometimes up to 20.  It can take a few levels to get points in the right places to get there.  But too many prisoners makes movement frustratingly slow.  I always put at least 1 point into it early on though, as you say, good for extra money, particularly against looters etc.  Also a good way to get some extra units like sea raiders or deserters if you recruit them.  And necessary to capture enemy lords...  As far as I'm concerned, a must.  But then, I oft-times play the slaver

I put 2 points in, for 10 prisoners, max.  Otherwise, it just slows me down too much on the map.  I don't earn the majority of my money through prisoners, anyway.

10 prisoners max, by the stage I can fill 10 prisoners I start wishing my skills were allocated elsewhere. I still go to 10 instead of five because it's a nice way earning money early on.

I just cant get over putting more than 1. Just cause i feel like another skill is more needed. =/

i polled 15, but then i realized I don't really have an average amount. I get the first level early on so i can capture lords, but whenever i put skill points in it ever again is when i don't have anything else useful to spend them on.

In warband for me at least I can capture enemy lords with no prisoner management, I've had 3 sitting in my prisoner slots so it says 3/0 prisoners.

Usually at least 4 points.  One of my characters i had 9 points in, that was pretty awesome.  By the time I'm high enough level for 9 PM sea raider groups are pretty big, so I can harvest so many of them.  Can also be a fairly quick/cheap way to recruit soldiers if you can stand the morale hit.

How do you manage the Morale hit? Also as soon as you recruit the prisoners do you just throw them in your garrison so they do not run away? Or do you just not care if they run away?

Prisoners are good source of high level soldiers so at last some points in there are useful even if you do not need extra money.

Keeping them in castle does the trick of not loosing half of them first night.

I'll say 10-20.

Garrison.  Companions don't desert.  If you're capturing enemy soldiers, you wont' convert 45 high level troops, usually most you'll get is 10 high level troops that will convert (unless you manage to capture 45 swadian knights...) so that morale hit is manageable.

I've not often had many issues dealing with my regulars' morale - it's the companions that leave!  The regulars are simple creatures - feed them, give them victory and plunder, they're happy enough

So long as you don't go recruiting every prisoner you get, no problems...

With companions, you have to have the right team.  You can't have them all and keep them happy. they are a bunch of haters, and they don't like to be in a group with people they hate.  So the bigger the group you try to make, the more people are going to hate each other and want t0 leave.

hehe aweomse username dude!

Yeah that's the truth, I've seen guides on who you can have to keep them happy, ought to do that sometime.  I just go "Ooh look, another companion, join me!"

I found a guide, it gave me two groups of 8 that I can use that have no problems, so I pick one group and stick with it.  But, I will also hire the other ones for different reasons, like making the ones I don't have as companions Lords or my minister, and sending them out to do the Right to Rule stuff.

I saw that a long time ago, but you remember the thread they were in. Or could you tell me the 2 groups, all i can remember off my head is. Y likes A. Ar likes lezilt. And Nizar hates A.

I also remember everyone likes 1 person but hates 2.

I currently have Prisoner Management set to 5 but I am thinking I have gone 1 point further than I needed to.
I am at the stage in my game where ransoms are nice to have but not the best way for me to make money.
I think PM of 4 was good enough for the way I play.
