Woohoo,
we have all been waiting for it and now all prisoners have a price.

Anyone got a list yet of how much each unit sells for?

looters sold for like 32
Taiga Bandits for like 104
Sea Raiders for 112
Forest Bandits I think I got 73
Khergit Lancers I think I got 96
Rhodock Vet Spears I think I got 140
Swadian Squirmishers I got 90ish

I didn't pay that much attention since I'm over joyed at varying prices and some rasoms worth a bit now.  Before rasoms were half my pay, now even more.  Much releaved and it's in line with what the rasomer says now.

I'm going to make myself unpopular and say these prices are way to high

Prisoner management was already with a flat 50, imo, the best moneymaking skill and this just makes it crazy.

However, it's good that there is variation. I'd suggest lowering certain bandit prices as a minimum. Say up to 60 for the raiders and 125 for knight lvl troops.

You do make a good point.
I'm making a killing out of knocking out sea raiders with my staff.

I don't know.  This may help offset the costs of keeping high level troops in garrison to help stave off sieges when you really need them.  Also, it allows you no not so heavily rely on tax income.  Gives mercs a way to make decent coin.

The actual calculation is level + 10, square that and divide by 6. So a looter is 4+10 = 14, squared =  196, div by 6 = 32.667, rounded down to 32 (the game only saves whole numbers, decimals are just discarded). A Nord Huscarl, on the other hand, is worth 28 +10, squared = 1444, div by 6 = 240. Slightly less for the weak, way more for the strong.

That makes Looters the only ones below the original 50denars. This has actually always been in the m&b code, just unlocked.

I like it, to be honest. I always wondered why they didn't implement this earlier, but apparently it was already in the code.

Yes I agree. The economy is badly affected by wars, and allowing you to make a profit from prisoners can compensate for it. In order to get prisoners, you have to actively participate in wars, so the profit that you earn for participating is justified.

The price can be debated. But using the flat 50 was unrealistic. A difficult opponent like a knight should not cost as much to ransom as a lowly looter.

Personally, I think maybe only the top 2 tiers of each troop tree should be ransomable (more fitting with the real-life times we're playing in).  The rest should only be sold to Ramon as slaves (but in that case, we would need more slave dealers.  No-one would actually have the coin to ransom back a common looter/recruit/farmer/etc.

I am also VERY happy about this.  I used to just ignore prisoners unless I could handle 20+, now they're worth while till late mid-game.

EDIT- I just think of the others as slaves anyway.

Yeah I like this too, but the sea raiders are worth too much I think. I used to trade during peacetime...now all I do is capture sea raiders lol. Money from capturing, money from loot, XP AND renown....it's so much better than trading now. Only reason to trade now is if you're trying to increase the wealth of a town.

..or if you're Khergit...where can I find Sea Raiders close to my lands?

You don't need to have them close to your lands. Just go get them during peace time like I do.

YAY! Finally it is now worth to put some more point in prisoner management. I am using heavy iron mace and knocking eveyone and sell them it is very profitable now. I can bring 20 prisoners, let assume they are sea readiers 112 x 20 = 2240 denar + loot.

You dont have to hunt Searaiders you know. As a Khergit just hunt the Steppe bandits near....errrr.... near veagirland. I cant remember the name of the castle there. They are worth less, sure - but they are right in your homeland.

Rivacerg is my favorite ATM now.

Was busily squashing nords with my knights after latest patch and collected abt twenty prisoners and three lords - I couldn't wait for the high return on my nord bashing but couldn't find ransom broker anywhere - eventually got to hometown of halmar but king declared peace just before I arrived AAAAA!
