Prison breaks are AWFUL

And here I was thinking it was some mod messing with my prison breaks and making me fight Sturgian armored behemoths 2-3 at a time with my civilian gear.
So I was returning from a break, got some nice mods and was actually starting to like the game. Until I decided to free the lady I wanted to marry from prison. I had like 15 failed attempts (not to mention the save scumming during city infiltration) and I started thinking that something was obviously wrong here. I mean, I'm not the worst of the fighters, I can easily win a duel with any NPC or trooper, but taking out 2 tier 4-5 guys in a corridor with limited maneuverability at once? Or 3? I even had a couple of times 4 of them were just waiting in the last room.
I launched the game without mods and started an absolutely fresh campaign for the clear result. Same crap. Then I started googling for the possible solution and came to this tread. Well... What can I say after studying it. That's the last time I ever bought anything from TW.
What weapon are you using and what's your combat AI difficulty set to?

I am using RBM and had difficulty set to "Bannerlord" (except I turned off deaths). Impossible. At least for me.

The level of walls and security of the fief effect how many guards and some dungeon maps have place where multiple guards tend to pile up. some they're spread out more. But yeah it's not defense of it, I think it's an un-designed part that needs work. The exact guards, where the guards are, what the dungeon is shaped like, all need to be tailor (re)made for gameplay, not just using whatever and dumping whatever troops into it. Add onto that we need more civilian gear and combat improvements too.

And this is a general advise and wish for TW: For any part of the game where the BEST solution is for the player "re-load the game and try again for different outcome", it really needs to be worked on so that it is consistent and functional. It shouldn't be wildly different some times, it should be mostly the same outcome with only small changes due to player error or skill.

I agree it could use some work and definitely added content to make the prison breaks more interesting.

That said, after not having touched the game for a good long while, I was glad to find a new way to level roguery at an acceptable rate. Even when you DO get caught.
With some practice, abusing the tight corridors to block the guard's swings and the right choice of weapons it's very doable.

...right up until just now when the game just started freezing up when I reach the exit...

It seems to be doing it consistently in different castles and towns, even ones that were working fine earlier. Even after doing other stuff in between, verifying game files, rebooting, restarting the game, etc.

Anyone else experienced this?
