I was scrolling trough discord and i have seen this suggestion by a player by the name of Sylver.

He suggested to prioritize companions and Lords to have a priority on the use of siege weapons in order to increase the Engineering skill.

I think it's a pretty good one and would also mitigate the kinda goofy scenario of having Lords charge up the ladders first.

It will be very beneficial to the player as we can mold our companions or party leaders to increase a skill that right now it's a bit hard to level for AI.

Is there any way we can see something like this or is it a bit too unbalanced/unrealistic to have in the game?

Yes but...

From a realism standpoint i don't think it makes sense for lords and nobles to man siege engines. It's more of a job for lower class soldiers and mid-class specialists (so yes to companion preference). I very recently made a suggestion with illustrations for UI feature additions to battles and sieges which would definitely allow you to customise which party member crews your siege weapons to your preference. So if you want your lords, ladies and companions to man them selecting those within the UI should definitely be possible. Personally i'd prefer selecting recruits and companions, the former being the example in the photoshopped picture i included.

I think Engineering skill should be gained more easily by means other than directly using siege engines. In the case of lords and players and companions, I think you should gain Engineering experience by even just being present at a siege where siege engines are being built.

I agree. Although I like gaining it by shooting hundreds infantry with the ballista, it's actually kind of silly and even more so that the act of building the siege gear and camp gives so much less engineering exp. Other ways and getting more from building stuff would be good. BUT if the engineering skill form siege weapon kills stays in, some way to order a clan member to to a weapon would be good, so your engineer can make use of it. It should be a player action though, for the PLAYER to choose who is doing it and skilling up.
