Well im a complete noob.....so it would be nice to have for reference before i accept a mission... i like to know if the place near to me or on the other side of the map before i choose to do the mission or not.
Or is there a key i can press at that stage to see the map?

I think there isn't a way to check beforehand, but most quests either don't have a time limit or give you 30 days. 3-4 days is enough for even an infantry force to travel the length of the land.
That being said, I understand and I'm sure it won't be too long before someone with artistic talents makes a map for reference.
Plus there the right mouse key which will usually pop up a menue with "travel here" and "show on map" or something. Just hit "q", then locations, pick the one out of the list you need, right top of your screen "show on map" --> there you need to go.

The easiest thing would be to just remember to save before asking for a quest. If you don't like the position on the map you can load your save and no harm done.
Who cares? There´s usually plenty of time to run throughout half of Pendor and deliver your quest. And if he´s a total new player riding around a bit won´t be a major drawback. That way he can watch and see and realize where and how to run
Except if the quest is f.e. to deliver a herd of cattle to the other side of Pendor, which can be quite annoying even when the cattle is following you (thanks for that tweak, btw - the first one I usually add in other mods).
If you zoom out and take a few minutes you can make a simple map yourself (draw in lakes, mountains, bridges, towns, castles and vilages). You can simply draw in symbols and write in the names of places later on your travels.
