So Prince of Persia is being put on the big screen - Release Date: 28 May 2010 (USA)
Apparently filmed in Morocco.

Starring Jake Gyllenhaal - as the main character.
Ben Kingsley as Nizam.
And Gemma Arterton as Tamina.

Do you think this is going to be a hit or some ****?

(I was impressed by the game in my childhood, in the early 90's, but today I think it's a boring arcade experience.
And the story seems a little 'thin' for an entire movie)

(EDIT: Thanks Janus, for setting things right)

I really love The Sands of Time and *if* they're staying somewhat true to it then it *might* actually be good. Though it most likely won't. Least it isn't being done by Uwe Boll, which is something.

And no Farah makes me a sad panda.

Also, Jake Gyllenhaal doesn't look...uhhh...all that Persian you know.

The director made the Potter movie that I actually kind of liked (while the other ones are god awful.). He's mostly good at dialog driven films, so...we'll see I guess.

That was my first thought  - But he's a talented actor, so I'm not complaining.

So the gay cowboy and Jarhead soldier is playing the Prince? This should be interesting.

And the PoP series featuring the Sands of Time has a rather deep story with some good dialogue and since time travel can be great if done well, I don't see why this movie couldn't be a success.

I'm looking forward too it.

Recolects his last notion of a persian:

His character for brokeback mountain will do just fine

Ok that is bound to kill it for me. Adds Prince of Persia to the list of recently destroyed childhood memories

Well, actually he looks rather okay. But he just seems huge to me. I did not know Jake Gyllenhaal was that well built. Congratulations to him for getting in shape I guess, since he'll be spending a large part of the movie without a shirt on.

Ew, his chest just looks...wrong somehow. Almost as if he took at least a little steroids.

Pfff the Potter films were all pretty good really. But then again I've never read the books, nor do I really want to read them.

Jake doesn't look Persian?

Well, does this girl look like what you'd expect persians to looks like?

she IS Persian, actually the ancients Persians would look very much like this.

I know, I was just trying to point to a slight stereotype western people have about Persians looking like Arabs.

I know Persians don't really look like Arabs, but maybe they could've tried looking for a decent, say, Iranian actor instead? There's gotta be plenty of them too.
But then again I don't actually really care about how he looks (within certain limits of course) as it's not that important to making the film be any good.

heh, the Iranian rants after 300 and Alexander were rather funny, I can imagine they won't be thrilled by this movie either

 So having well defined pecs = steroids?

Damn straight!
And the game's prince definitely didn't look so...buff.

Wonder how cheesy the sand monsters and time rewinding will look.
