Preventing companions from leaving

Hi,

This was possible in 2.50 with Tweak MB, but I can't do it with Tweak MB now for 2.53. Is there a solution for that? Or is there another way to prevent companions from leaving?

And yes I prefer playing that way.

And as always, thanks alot of an awesome mod compilation. The only way to play in my opinion.

If you turn on the cheatmenu, it should add the "we hang deserters" option to force them to stay, if it isn' there already.

I remember that option about hanging deserters but now it's not there. From the cheat menu I can improve my relationship with the NPC I last talked to but that's no good if a companion's already left.

Also, having the cheat menu on floods the log all the time. And I really don't want to use any other cheat. I just like having alot of companions. I'm not even power gaming the party skills, but spend their skill points on fighting skills. It's awesome dumping the rest of the army to go raiding with just your ~20 companions =)

Any other way around this or do I just have to wait and hope the next Tweak MB versions covers 2.53?

........

If you go into "MOD OPTIONS"

at the very bottom is a check box marked "TURN OFF COMPANION COMPLAINTS"

Check the box

Problem solved

I dont think so no- they only stop complaining. They will still leave.

Yes. The info box on that feature even states that while the complaints are disabled the consequences are not...

Dammit you people know how to read
That was my way of checking the the box and getting you fools to Shut Up

Anyway i satnd corrected. I actually thought that was the answer. Since i think roling around with 22 customizable superheroes is a bit OP i never really looked into this. I guess if you really want to do this your going to have to delve into coding and do it the hard way. Good Luck.

P.S. doesn't TweakMB have an option like this. I doubt it's up to date with floris and it might literally be the same thing as floris' in game box but it would be better to look at it first before you go fiddling with warbands coding.

It doesn't sound like TweakMB is allowing this option to work with the current version.  Maybe we can convince Kefka to update support for 2.53 when he gets time as we plan on sticking with 2.53 until 2.6 is ready.  At least that is the current plan.

Nope, TweakMB is not updated for that shizzle- believe me; I usually check everything I can before asking for "help" on the forums. Too bad I'm not into coding- my attempt would do more harm than good I fear.

That said, awesome mod. Loving it.

It's a request only.

Kisses, hugs and snugglerabbits!

I too would like to be able to stop them from leaving. TweakMB isn't updated enough to allow the change and the way I've seen online to enable the "We hang deserters" options doesn't work.

Actually they won't leave if they never get a chance to complain. I have "incompatible" companions (actually I have practically all of them except maybe 1 or 2 because I just don't like them), and I flee from combat, lose a lot of men, forget to feed my army, send everybody as emissaries all the time and nobody ever complains or leaves. They're always happy about everything I do.

They will leave when they complain a certain number of times (which is actually the level of their dissatisfaction with you). The check box in mod options will stop them from ever being dissatisfied with anything.

The only drawback is that they also won't tell you about the other companions in your army that they actually like, which is fun to read (but only shows up once per character per game anyway).

Also, if they'd already left, it won't bring them back magically.

I just remembered that a few weeks ago i did have incompatible companions and one tried to leave. I had persuasion skill at 4 or 5... not sure if i had read the book by that time... but i won the persuasion check and never had the leaving issue again. That was a different playthrough than the one i'm on now but maybe an easier way about get what you want.

I have disabled companion complaints, and I am always telling them they will be hanged for desertion. The constant reminders they dont like you are irritating, although not game breaking, but I would like to be able to remove the relationship hit. For example, in Floris 2.4 (I think, maybe 2.3) when companion complaints were disabled, there was no relationship hit. This meant i could feasibly turn some of them into lords. Unfortunatley, now that is not the case.

Is it possible to remove the relationship hit, or stop them from wanting to leave altogether?

P.S sorry if that isn't very clearly written, I am in a hurry

You have that option in 2.53 as well? I don't.

Also, to an earlier poster, checking the box about no complaints doesn't prevent them from leaving, as mentioned alredy...

In earlier versions we had the hang deserters option or could use Tweak MB, but non of those work for 2.53.

At the moment I'm paying them to stay, but that is getting rather expensive.

Just double checked the code. In Floris 2.5x, the "We Hang Deserters" option appears automatically in appropriate companion-initiated dialogs if "Disable NPC Complaints" is ticked in mod options. Having cheats active is not a part of it any more.

And we've never changed the operation of the "Disable NPC complaints" option--we're simply tapping into a Natively available option/variable that simply isn't active in Native. Fairly positive the devs haven't bothered to change how that unused variable works in patches and similarly pretty sure that we haven't removed any of its functionality.

The only thing missing is whatever TweakMB does. If I get some time, I can take a look and see if it is an easy .txt tweak

If I remember correctly it took inserting the global variable (disable complaints) in one spot to block the npcs from leaving.  I'll see if I can find the segment in the morning.

Ah, so the hanging option is still there if one ticks the disable complaints box. I must've had bad timing and not have gotten the complaints-wanting-to-leave-party dialouge while I had it ticked in, but still thought I had explored that option.

Great!

Would it be possible to disable the relationship hit, though? Because I have just launched my own kingdom in Dhirim (hey, I'm a gambler) and I want to enfeoff a couple of my companions. However, other than the discipline-loving Lazlit, They all hate me at -100
