Preparing to launch Mount and Blade: Warband

I only today bought Mount and Blade: Warband from Steam. I was playing the game for around 4-5 hours before taking a few hours break. Now when i attempt to run it through steam, or from my desktop i get the box from steam saying: "Preparing to Launch Mount and Blade: Warband..." and then the box goes away and nothing happens. I've checked the task manager and it's not running.

I also went into the Steam folder in program files and attempted to run it from there and i get the error message: "The Program can't start because XINPUT1_3.dll is missing from your computer. Try re installing the program to fix this problem." I've re installed the game three times now and it's been to no avail. I also checked my Anti-Virus software. It has mount and blade set to full connection, so the anti-virus isn't blocking it. Any help would be appreciated, i'd really like to get back on playing

NVIDA GeForce 550ti Graphics

Same problem,  I was playing normally this morning. I tried to start it up this afternoon and was greeted with "preparing to launch..." and that's it.

Un-installed and re-installed twice to no avail, exact symptoms as Melthurian.

I have my suspicions that today's update may have something to do with it.

Cheers.

This did not work for me.  Nor did deleting the rgl_config.  I love how this is a crap shoot.  I think it has something to do with mount & blade going on sale again on steam.  But this is just a guess.  Though you guys seem to be guessing too.

Yep, same problem here. Would it be illegal for Steam to do this to your game in the hope that you will download their package offer?

Steam usually includes the version of directx with the game. I imaging since the version changed with the patch, it hasn't updated yet. So, no, it's not illegal, Steam usually does you a service by including the appropriate version as part of the game download.
