Pre-set equipments for classes in multiplayer

Is this a thing only for Captain mode and Skirmish mode? Or all game modes including Siege and Duel?

I kind of understand the reasoning for pre-set equipments for Captain and Skirmish if i consider the given information for them. They kinda meant to be e-sport features, just like, maybe this will be a wrong example but League of Legends, Overwatch etc. So players should be fast to decide their classes and get into battle in a short amount of time.

What about Duel and Siege? In Siege, you don't have to "pick and rush" since, well there is a looping server where hundreds of players fight, die, respawn, fight... you have lots of time to decide what to get on you. You may decide go to afk for a minute or so if you have so important thing to look at in your real life, and your team won't be effected so much since there will be hundreds more players beside you (except if you are super-duper in sieges :grin: ).

In duel, well it's up to you to fight or just sit there and watch others fighting, learning their fighting techniques. You really don't have to pick your weapons and rush in.

Is pre-set equipments for classes is a thing for all game modes, or just meant to be e-sport game modes?
 
I'd suppose you will be able to choose equipment for all those more "fun oriented" gamemodes, however I would also like an answer to confirm or dismiss my thoughts.

Captain mode will in no way be viable for esports. Anything with AI troops precludes this.

Pre-made loadouts are also not ideal for M&B's style of competitive play. Part of the appeal is that losses are meaningful because your opponent gets to upgrade their gear, but you won't be entirely outclassed because you lost one round. Besides, could you imagine waiting on TaleWorlds to change the equipment of just one troop type that the community thinks is unbalanced? Maybe in the first few months after release, but if we're a year past 1.0 then we might as well just mod it ourselves. :lol:

I am genuinely curious as to why you think this. There are various Esport games with AI components. Typically moba or strategy type games. Not saying its the best option for MB, just noting on general viability.

MOBA AI plays a very minor role. It's extremely simple and doesn't really interact much with its players. RTS AI also is very simple stuff that relies heavily on micro.
M&B AI is far more complex and is under player command, but not player control. It has to do way more things by itself so there's much more that can go wrong.

Well there are plenty of games as such to aim e-sporting. Tiger Knights,  Total War:Arena etc. But this is kinda off-topic so i will cut my comment here.

I just wonder if pre-set equipments also a thing for duel and siege modes.
 
I am not sure on how I feel about preset equipments. It must certainly be an option for new players. For example in CS:GO you can get preset gear as well but you also have the freedom of choosing your own gear.

In Warband there are still new players who do not know what they need to buy. I still see people with very bad practice gear sets. Even tho I try to explain to them in a constructive and nice manner they do not listen. Maybe they do not pay attention to chat. I don't know.

There is a reason the very first moba games took control of the bots away from the player.
 
We know captain mode and skirmish will have it. If you want to know if the others will, you’re either going to have to:

-wait for a response from Callum or a dev

-pray someone “leaks” info about the game

-wait 3 months for a dev blog covering multiplayer

edit: funny, just as i said that, Callum just comfirmed that preset classes are now on every single gamemode

There is a reason the very first moba games took control of the bots away from the player.
If you are unable or unwilling to elaborate on that reason and why both Moba's AND strategy type games do not highlight the basic possibility of viable E-Sports with AI components... I don't really see the point of this post.
 
Sure, the AI in Bannerlord acts not only as a group but also individually, making fights depend much more on a multitude of variables and physics rather than predictable statistics and numbers. Nonetheless, I think despite this, teamwork and strategy would still be utmost important requirements, and units' statistics would still have a substantial impact in a fight, rendering Captain Mode viable for a new, different kind of competitive play.
