well, i say yes, in the sense that you're given a bit more to do than attack random street urchins.

The Zendar tournament could be made alot easier, with the downside that you recieve less money and exp, and there could be bigger and better sournaments in Sargoth and the like.

You can always do training. Then after you do training, you can do more training. Then after training you could do tournaments or more training. You don't have to bet on tournaments and you would learn how badly arrows to the face hurt. Then once you've done hundreds of free tournaments, you could go kill some river pirates.

I really don't see the value of hitting a stationary target. A lot of people have trouble doing the whole couched lance thing but, once you realise it is just horse charge aimed at the enemies right arm, it's the easiest thing in the game to do. You already can pull out your bow and shoot the people of Zendar and they don't say anything about it. Heck you could stand there chopping them with your sword for hours and they'll just cross their arms occasionally.
