Power Rankings

Here you guys can post your power rankings for teams or predictions that you may have. Enjoy!

Marquis' Preseason Rankings

Ranking System:
Because the whole purpose of the scramble league is to create teams much closer in skill level than previous tournaments, I will not be ranking the teams numbers 1-12. Instead, I will be creating 3 "tiers", and assigning 4 teams to each tier. Each team in the tier has a similar chance of being the best in said tier. Unfortunately, some teams I know better than others (either through playing against or mercing for them), and there are also players who I am unfamiliar with (Rest in Peace EU's). As of this moment however, these are the starting locations for the 12 teams, in my own opinion.

Tier One (Potential Champs)

-  Menace of Wenfire
Led by Guacc, this team presents a challenge to anyone looking to claim the top spot in the tournament. With a deadly archery duo of Menethil and Kiano, it will be a challenge for any team to make it to the MOTF spawning without losing health or horses to their shots. A solid closed map cavalry force of Nate and Alejandro will provide for bump stabs aplenty, and can be supplemented on the open map by Guacc, Nevino, Pirate Hobo, and Cradoc to allow for overwhelming cavalry strategic options. On the ground, both Guacc and Cradoc will have to carry heavily at infantry, as their other infantry possess neither the mechanical skill nor experience to provide for the infantry-heavy strats Guacc may be tempted to run. Speaking of Guacc, it may prove an additional hardship to lead his team at infantry while also calling for them, but if he can manage it, expect this team to go to great lengths to win this tournament.

-  Unlucky
Led by All Luck, this team presents some of the strongest closed map players in the tournament. With a deadly cavalry duo of Ciiges and Bubs, any opposing ground players caught unawares will be dealt with swiftly and without mercy. Supplemented by Kira, Kel and Creed on open maps, All Luck will be able to establish a decent cavalry force without much effort. In regards to infantry, All Luck is blessed with the fortune of having the current best NA archer (Kel) leading the charge, who will be equally balanced by the extreme aggressive infantry playstyle of Creed, and extremely defensive infantry playstyle of Kira. While neither Caedus , Volpel, or Muhammed have the experience or mechanical skill to play on the same level of the above 3, each are more than capable of playing as a support class infantry. Unlucky's one weakness as of this roster deals with its archery core. While both Chev and All Luck are excellent shots, they have no experience working together, and it will prove a struggle for All Luck to call for his team and manage to keep a steady pressure on the enemy. As of this moment, All Luck's best chance of winning any engagement is to engage in one quickly, and rely on his cavalry to negate enemy archers prior to assisting the infantry fight.

-  Rob's Newbs
Led by the list master himself, Rob's Newbs presents itself as being able to overwhelm enemy teams with infantry. With a core relying on Magerick and Polar Bear, which is likely to be supplemented by Horace, Sabo, and Nigerian. a closed map rush against many teams is likely to prove successful. Rob also has the added benefit of calling from cavalry (in my experience the easiest class to call from), and on closed maps will likely be assisted by either Viktor or Ron Burgandy. On open maps, Rob will be leading his cav charges alongside additional cavalry players in Polar Bear and Kr8dle. In addition to his Infantry and Cavalry, Rob will be playing Jeffrey9792, widely recognized as one of the best current NA archers. While recent stat changes may negate his ability to shoot through and under shields, both he and Wert can be relied upon to dismount enemy cavalry and neutralize enemy archers at the onset of many engagements. While Rob's team is definitely one of the stronger teams in the tournament, it also contains one of the larger weaknesses- if Jeffrey cannot attend, or is performing sub-par, neither Wert nor Bohemond are likely to be able to perform at the level necessary to support the rest of the infantry and cavalry.

-  Old tK
Led by Tito, a highly accredited infantry and caller, Old tK presents itself as having the strong potential to beat teams through strategy as opposed to a blind infantry rush. Heavily stacked with persistent world regulars, Tito has a number of players who will perform equally well on closed and open maps. This team's largest weakness will be the adjustment of the persistent world players to native scrim situations, and the likelihood of Red (this team's top cavalry) getting himself killed or dismounted prior to  engagements on closed maps. With a top 4 infantry lineup of Tito, Bjorn, Albus, and Sitvek, expect concentrated pushes on weaker targets, as Tito attempts to keep his infantry fighting in locations where they will be easily aided by Red and Danate at cavalry, and Pepper and Glitterball at archer. With a potential to win most cav engagements on the open field (courtesy of Red, Danate, Tito, and Bjorn), it will require skillful leadership for this team to emerge victorious on infantry-heavy closed map situations.

Tier 2 (Fighting Into the Upper Tier)

-  Rest in Peace
My personal team, lead by Ebdanian Admiral, RiP has proven itself to be a worthy opponent to the above 4 teams. With one of the best archery pairs in the tournament in Ebdanian and Marquis (who have the best synergy out of any archery duo so far) expect archer spreads a plenty on both open and closed maps. This team's largest weakness up to this point has been its cavalry, however- while Stone is indeed a quality player (and more than capable of clutching rounds), the inactivity of the rest of the official cavalry players has led us to playing our best infantry, Aporta, as our second cav in many situations. While Aporta is also highly adept at cavalry, it nonetheless robs us of a key infantry player, which is especially obvious on closed maps. Still, when we have the option of playing Aporta as infantry, both he and Gibby have proven to be near unstoppable in a pure melee clash. Bolstered by the newcomers Ostulor and Athennos, most teams will require heavy archery and cavalry support in order to bring them down. As of this moment, this team's greatest weakness is due to low numbers and conflicting schedules. With both USA West Coast and European players, it is impossible to schedule a time to include everyone. In addition (due to some mistake I'm sure), the team currently has only 12 players, as opposed to the 13 or 14 of other teams.

-  Ascended
Led by Prime (Q), Ascended also has the potential to rise to the top. With a strong archery  pair of Jarvis and Matthew, shots will be made if they are left undealt with. While the team boasts of a solid infantry group of Prime, Conure, Earacorn, and either Asediado or Cleanbandit, The fact that all but one or two of their infantry have extremely defensive styles may make it difficult for Arys and Can to provide the heavy cavalry carry many are expecting them to. However, both Arys and Can are also adept callers and strategists, so expect some well thought out plays from Ascended in the future. If the team can turn their defensive playstyle into a strength, they will certainly prove to be a force in this tournament.

-  Heat and Yami are Married
While the optimistic name of this team gives it instant kudos (Indeed, congrats on your holy matrimony), this team has the potential to be great, provided its Euros are able to attend. Both Watly and Apollo are essential to maintain a high playing level in their respective classes. Heat's dominate closed map cavalry force of himself and Watly will then be aided by Zealots and (potentially) Sigi or Tammo on the open map. Similarly, Apollo is easily recognized as the starting archer for this roster, and it will be up to Heat to decide whether he wishes his second archer to have accuracy (Bubba) or experience (Zealots). So far as the infantry core for this team goes, it will have to rely heavily on Abellard to carry during engagements, and he is likely to become a prime target for opposing archers and cavalry. He will not be alone, however, as both Sigi and Exmarius are likely to perform well, and are more than willing to take advantage of any lapses in enemy judgement or positioning.

-  Pray for Lust
-  Pray for Lust
Led by Gorlock, this team is only a breath away from taking its place among the top teams in this tournament. With an impressive cavalry force in Cheesepizza, expect Pizza to come away with some score like 10-2 as closed map cavalry. Attempting to keep up with the cavalry will most likely be Nero (Cole),Wappaw Nero , Tangawizi, and Gorlock, all four extremely adept infantry who will be difficult to defeat once they start to get their cohesion going. Finally, perhaps this team's greatest ace in the sleeve lies in attaining both Lagstro and Kane for their archery squad- in terms of pure accuracy, likely the best archery pair in the tournament. Unfortunately, like Rob's team above, if either Cheesepizza or Lagstro perform less than their best, this team may watch victory slip away in the final rounds of a match.

Tier 3 (Must Overcome Problems before Competing for Championship)

- The Chosen
While the team boasts a fearsome threesome of Cru, RD, and Vorn, the inactivity/inexperience of the majority of its members will likely prevent them from practicing too much as a team. If they are unable to come together and achieve synergy as a team, they will be left a step behind many of the other teams, and I am unsure as to whether their raw skill will allow them to attain victory over more practiced opponents.

-  Heroes of Caldaria
The sole reason for this team's placement is due to its inability to come together as a team. With an infantry lineup of Oodle, Ordyn, Ivanho, and Panda, supported by Sotamursu and Juve at archer and Garde and Thunder at cavalry, this team's skill will carry them along for a fair ways in this tournament. However, this team also contains the most passionate temperaments out of any other in the tournament, so it may prove a struggle to achieve cohesion without much practice and bonding (and possibly group therapy).

-  Were gonna Get'cha for Real
With an extremely rusty caller, Forsaken's ability to adapt to his newer player's strengths and weaknesses may prove to be the life or death of this team. While the team consists of the best archer (in terms of accuracy) in NA (Death Angel), and one of the more skilled cavalry (Insane), the infantry core is extremely rusty apart from Rake, who will most likely be fighting alongside Manry, Dodge, and Hired Blade. The distance this team will go will almost directly correlate with the amount of practice the older players put into scraping off their rust.

-  Knights of Ascension
John's team has been hit the worst by inactivity so far, with many of his more skilled players unable to attend his practice scrims. With a strong cav force of Brave and Easter Cow, John is nonetheless hurt by the lack of other archers on his team, namely Peacecraft and ummmmmmmidk (whose schedules prevent them from making many practices). Although he has a strong infantry force in Kragen, Troubadour, and CDJ, the lack of many of his starters could spell doom in an official match.

Editors note:

sorry rob, we've got a new worst list maker in town

Those are some mighty strong words from someone whos barely worthy of being placed on most lists. Maybe we should tone the rhetoric down, lest yet another thread be locked?
