Yeah, as the thread says. Yesterday, we had a server which was filled with brilliant people.
There were two teams. The Vaegirs and the Rhodoks. The map was Ruins. When the game started, absolutely everyone tried to go into Rhodoks, even me, but it was so filled I was forced to go to the vaegirs. The first few rounds we lost, but then this guy, Anton, told everyone to go cavalry. So we all did. Then he told us to line up. And we did, which was pretty awesome in itself.
We held a straight line of cavalry (even Arch3r said "Nice line!") and then Anton gave a quick speech about us being the riders of rohan or something
. Afterwards, he told us to charge, as the enemy retreated to the "fort" they have at their spawn (we spawned at the small village of some sort) and we all did. Damn, that was some epic stuff, I wish I've taken screenshots, but I was afraid I'd crash and miss on this epic stuff.
Anyway, we all pretty much charged without hesitation into the enemy shieldwall (literally, a straight line of shieldwall ... epic) and most of our horses either crashed through or fell. But our couched lances did a lot and they lost, like, 10 men in that charge (though we did lose a lot, too). Everyone switched to scimitars and started randomly slashing. Literally. Just slashing around randomly. It was such a mess, you didn't notice who was who because so many players were in one, small area, including dead and alive horses.
If friendly fire would of been on with melee weapons, I bet most of us would have killed teammates. I just randomly slashed and got around 3 kills, but in the end, we won and most of us died. That was really brilliant. A stinging defeat, indeed, to the enemy. The next rounds weren't so lucky, though, because they went to the houses in the ruins, so our cavalry couldn't do much.
I hope someone remembers that battle. A big thanks to Anton for organizing us and .. well .. being a commander or something. It was really awesome, hope we can do something like that again.
Post your epic stories here, too.
