Yeah, as the thread says. Yesterday, we had a server which was filled with brilliant people.

There were two teams. The Vaegirs and the Rhodoks. The map was Ruins. When the game started, absolutely everyone tried to go into Rhodoks, even me, but it was so filled I was forced to go to the vaegirs. The first few rounds we lost, but then this guy, Anton, told everyone to go cavalry. So we all did. Then he told us to line up. And we did, which was pretty awesome in itself.

We held a straight line of cavalry (even Arch3r said "Nice line!") and then Anton gave a quick speech about us being the riders of rohan or something . Afterwards, he told us to charge, as the enemy retreated to the "fort" they have at their spawn (we spawned at the small village of some sort) and we all did. Damn, that was some epic stuff, I wish I've taken screenshots, but I was afraid I'd crash and miss on this epic stuff.

Anyway, we all pretty much charged without hesitation into the enemy shieldwall (literally, a straight line of shieldwall ... epic) and most of our horses either crashed through or fell. But our couched lances did a lot and they lost, like, 10 men in that charge (though we did lose a lot, too). Everyone switched to scimitars and started randomly slashing. Literally. Just slashing around randomly. It was such a mess, you didn't notice who was who because so many players were in one, small area, including dead and alive horses.

If friendly fire would of been on with melee weapons, I bet most of us would have killed teammates. I just randomly slashed and got around 3 kills, but in the end, we won and most of us died. That was really brilliant. A stinging defeat, indeed, to the enemy. The next rounds weren't so lucky, though, because they went to the houses in the ruins, so our cavalry couldn't do much.

I hope someone remembers that battle. A big thanks to Anton for organizing us and .. well .. being a commander or something. It was really awesome, hope we can do something like that again.

Post your epic stories here, too.

I always try to step up and take command. At least make a suggestion.

Don't you even remember my name :/. The name of the guy who slaughtered 5 of your precious cavalry with his ashwood pike.

And I took screenshots, I'll try upload them. Anyways you are lying though, you lost way more than just a quarter. You barely had 3 men left.

But ya that was awesome, we had organized us pretty well too and it was pretty close.

Well a few days ago on the ruins map i was a swadian vs Vaegirs. The enemy whiped out our team apart from me and one other (who was on a horse),6 yes 6 vaegirs came chargeing at me,i backed into one of the ruins and managed to kill every one of them, then just before the map ended i killed another. That was a great day for killing.

Ah Archer, my most humble apologizes, yes I forgot your name, I'm embarrased. And seems like I also forgot the kill count, haha. It just seemed that we lost so few men. Then again, it was a big mess.

Nice screenie, btw.

I stick to the french tradition of military planning.

Mount a fine steed, grab a long lance, shout "filthy peasants!" and charge, hoping you'll reach the enemy before any of your damn team mates can get there to share the glory!

Haha ... That reminds me, today, again at the Ruins map, we had Rhodoks VS Khergits and we kept losing at first. We tried pretty much everything - A shield wall, a shield circle (failed horribly), a charge to the open field, and finally, holding behind a wall, which actually worked pretty well and we won a few rounds.

On the map, near the village spawn, there's a small shack where you can go in. I, for jokes, told "Everyone go to the shack which is on your right when you spawn" and everyone did go there. That was funny. Sadly I and most others died by a bug what happened if you jumped on the barrels or baskets which were there, but still, it was pretty epic. The rest died anyway when they died to charge out of there. It was fun though.

Well, mine was probably a combination of two rounds in a battle.

It was ruins map with rhodoks vs nords, I was on the rhodok side. We'd been fighting for few rounds with no team gaining any real advantage. Then in this particular round, the nords spawned in their hamlet immediately forming a shield wall. We grouped up at the middle wall, a few of them lured us out so we charged. It was a complete slaughter. There were so many flying axes and spears we couldn't even keep our shields up.

So the next round they again formed a shield wall. We also again rushed to the middle wall. This time however we all held position in cover. This created a stand off, with each team staring at each other. Crossbowmen and and archers exchanged volleys while infantry prepared. The nords broke and charged us, we still held position. They reached the wall and now each team held a side of the wall with little sparks of fighting at the edges. We surged forwards into their lines cutting them down and coming up victorious.

It was such an enjoyable battle. I love it when the two infantry based factions are paired against each other.

Me too, probably Nords vs. Rhodoks is my favorite.

Hehe,Vader, I was in that battle, but on the Rhodok side. I was not there in the beginning of the battle though. It was scary to see you guys in a perfect line with cavalry when I joined, I thought you were some elite players that that had teamed up. One of my favourite battles so far, even though I usually hate fighting cavalry. Nice too see a perspective from the evil side.

I also remember a Nords vs Vaegirs game, (I was Vaegir) most of us made a spearwall at the bridge (map name? River something) The Nords charged  an threw axes and javelins, basically raining axes. My shield broke so i left the spearwall and took out my javelins and started throwing. Then it became a melee fight at the bridge. I took out two nords but were one of the first too die, my team won the battle though.

Yeah, you got a bit too excited at times, too, . Otherwise, it was actually nice to see you cracking up those strategies in other rounds.

Yup Vader I was in the shed with ya. We got slaughtered

And I was playing with Anton as Khergits, we would line up on the hill near the stone bridge, then charge all as one at the enemy.

Lol me a powermad 14 year old swedish boy took command over like 15 cavalry dudes
you, sir, are completely mad
played together this afternoon... needless to say, i've had a great time and hope to see more of it in the future.

Tonight on the EU Battle server, i was part of the Nord team vs Rhodoks on the Ruins map, things were going pretty well except that round where these filthy Rhodoks manage to kill all of our team by camping at their spawn, well everyone but me, against 7 bad guys or so, including a horseman. Knowing it would be tough, I wanted to hurt them mentally, so I yelled "THIS IS SPARTAA§§" to scare the **** out of them. And then, I simply charged with my horsie, taking out most of them one by one with my lance while dodging bolts, until they finally shot my horse down, so i switched to my sword and rushed at the nearest crossbowman while he was switching weapons, killing him with the first blow. Only one to go, and only 15 seconds left before the end of the round, i fought the last one during those long seconds, i wanted to win so much, but i only managed to kill him 2 seconds after the round had come to an end.
So remember, when outnumbered (and not in a melee), it's always worth it to try to impress your ennemy. and by the way, thanks to all those who were there for the great game.

I was on the rhodok side of that battle! It was frustrating to see our own cavalry not listening to our tactical ideas and just rushing out in suicidal charges.

We had a good plan that involved a spearwall, to protect our xbows, and having the cavalry circle and charge you guys in the flank after your horses would have been killed in their charge against our wall, or by our xbows. The cav was to wait behind our lines, leave when your infantry aproaches circle around, and charge you guys in the back when you reached our spearwall.

That was my plan (I'm Roeland in the game by the way)

unfortunately however our cavalry prefered to suicide charge and our plan kept failing, it got frustrating after the 1000th time

Yes I do remember a teammate pointing that your cav was a bit too gung-ho, and not in sufficient number. And I think that the time we were in trouble was when we did more or less the same thing.

I remember fighting with Anton one time and pledging to his leadership

But the most memorable battle was when me and a bunch of other guys went berserk and fought with only a 2h axe  Got 6 kills in one round against Khergits. Cut the horse down and kill the downed opponent (y)

Also one time in the river map when both sides had cavs lined up and charged against each other was epic

Just wait until I get some more free time and past some tests and papers. Ill top everyone here with my l33tness. Just yall wait and ill get some screen shots of my 2:11 or 4:12 (K:grin:) type scores. It happens almost every game, just havent taken a picture. My "epic" score will be posted as soon as I get one

I played in most of these battles, great times, especially the OP battle. I remember someone was getting stressed with the riders of Rohan thing, i thought it was funny though  Especially as i had my lord of the rings soundtrack playing in the background (new music for the beta please).

My favourite at the weekend was a battle between the Nords and the Rhodoks at the "bridgey rivery" level and i was on the Rhodoks side. We went 3 or 4-0 up and then the Nords pulled it back to level and then some draws before the level timed out. What i loved about it was that it was the same people, same troop types (mostly) but the victories were all earnt by tactics as the primary factor over anything. I was really impressed with that.
