Jesus christ that's some nifty sounding recording on the latter part. Great job.

I decided to give Sylenth1 a try as it seems to be recommended by some top notch artists. Great sounding hard-synth, can produce some real gritty analogue-ish sounds and would also implore anyone to give it a chance.

Forgot to mention that the bass sound throughout the song is not actually Sylenth1-made, I used Harmless which has a great preset sub-bass preset that's tweakable into any deep bass, from a very accurate acoustic sound to even wobbly basses.

I've been sitting on this song(among others) for ages and ages because I couldn't find a guitar sound that didn't bore me or piss me off. I'm an idiot. I could've just used that Sanitarium cover as a template.

Hmm, I'll allow myself to be one of 'those' people for a minute.

Lots of...Wouldn't really call it "similarities" per se...More like reminders, maybe? Anyhow, can't help but compare...

O'Hara - whether solo or in Altered State (and not only mentioning that because of his vocals on the track, mind you) - mandatory comparison, sorry...Actually, not sorry - both worth comparing to if you ask me.

The Algorithm - electro-double-bass (couldn't remember that Frenchie's name to save my life...); Malyan's drumming style (though kind of a redundant point); some other sample strokes...

Eden (Tesseract's Eden that is...) in there somewhere, though that one's a matter of perspective, I suppose...Err, no pun intended - 2.0 was always inferior to the 9 minute version as far as I'm concerned...So yeah...

Misha's style of...djent...Ugh...Stupid word had to creep in, there was no avoiding it.

Don't get me wrong...Nothing wrong with all that, and I'm not implying anything. Just saying. Maybe it's the mixing of all of those (which would require talent, no question about that, as it shows...?...sounds...?) or maybe it's something else, but like I said - nothing wrong with familiarities. 'Sides, I've never been under the impression this or that piece of music's ever been original in style...or vibe...or groove...or whatever you might call it. Not since the old classics anyway.

Anyhow...Heavy influences were at play here, obviously...By the way, same goes for Access Forbidden (browsed around your Soundcloud for a bit). Yet, I find it kind of distinct. Weirdly enough for the same reasons. Go figure. Kind of mashed half of my prog library together and you got this.

Or maybe that's not the case at all and I've been listening to that style lately too often for my own good and have been in that...whatchamacallit...headspace...too much.

With all that said (damn, that got longer that I intended), it's quite enjoyable...for me. Keep 'em commin'.

Was browsing through some old tracks tonight...Found this one I made for Daydream...5 years ago  In other words: old as ****. Completely forgot the guys made a trailer piece out of it at some point in time. Anyhow, nostalgia kicked in...so...yeah...

Uploaded yesterday a soundtrack homework that I made ages ago for my composer teacher.

I recorded some weird **** the other day. I think this one's kinda cool though: https://soundcloud.com/techno_au_loin/lead-in-one-in

You might have to turn the volume up a little bit.

Free- I think the "best" would be "Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra"
Very cheap- Miroslav Philhamornik is quite good. If you get good with velocity/volume/etc. you can make it sound surprisingly good. Not sure what else is within this price range, I've only used Miroslav.
