Right now the flow after battle is (party screen) upgrade troops and take prisoners then (inventory) take what loot you want and return to the world map.
When you have one of the perks that give your troops experience for discarding items/horses you then have to load back into the party screen to use the experience you just got from the discarded items/horses.
So I propose the option to click on the experience you're getting which cashes it and takes you back to the party screen so you can upgrade your troops further.
