I'd love to have face and hair style from this ancient viking warrior.

And I will search for good face pic of one of spartan warrior from movie 'Troy' and one of gladiator from 'Gladiator' while they would probably look nice for new face add-on to Mount and Blade.

What tools do I need, in order, to open .tga texture files so I'd be able to paint them for this mod?

Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop are two examples of programs you can buy - the two best image editors that you can pay for, imho, but there's also a free alternitave called GIMP - That's a link, click it to get GIMP image editor. Takes a while to learn, but when you do you can create as good quality stuff as any Photoshopper!

You might also try Irfanview, which is free and can open and convert just about any format you can think of (make sure to download and install the plugins though). http://www.irfanview.com

It can indeed! I have that, heh. It also lets you see thumbnails of DDS files aswell as other image/movie/media formats. It doesn't have image editing features, though, just viewing.

Oh man there is a lots'o'paint'n'draw programs for free. One of them is (and also my favourite) Photofiltre you can reach it from www.photofiltre.com but the gimp is the best  (Linux 4ever  )

Gentoo distro for ever!

But back on the topic, I'm making a face right now myself.. Dunno if I'm going to release to the public though, it's my first go at something even close to realistic.

If I can make one suggestion on the mod. If you want NPCs to be able to take advantage of your faces the way they do currently you should put control faces in after every 2 new faces or so. So put face x and face y then the old blonde face again, then face z, etc.. Also you should try to group like faces as best you can in terms of skin and hair coloring.

NPCs currently use a range of faces and hairs within two values, if you make a new series of blonde faces but break them up with dark haired, scary orc faces, you wont be able to include them on soldier npcs as it will look.... It would be fine for player faces but limit its eventual use for module building.

In the same way if you have 3 dark hair variants, repeat a standard black and brown in the sequence so they can all be included in a range for an NPC who has darker hair.

just my 2 cents.

If it would be any help I could send the 3d max files for this arm model but guess dont need such a big arm :p And also it is not a very versatile work, I have used many poligons etc to shape the arm so the file size is also big.

Err and I yet havent made some of the polygons flexible for the movement I have to do it manually

Edit: Changed the image to a link since it was too big. -A

I had to place the gloves because I could not get the shape of the naked hand no matter how much I tried

I've made a dirty, scarred face for the dark man's skin... but M&B is buggering up on me, I'll get a screenshot tommorow though, when I can reboot.

Small help, when I tried to copy my new edited pic while pasting over older file of .DDS, but then it showed me option of only saving it as other file. How can I save it as .DDS pic to overwrite it with my new texture I made?
