Possible new units

Grandmaster Knight
I think these would add colour to the game, and add more options to the type of army you could have. Some ideas are better than other's, but please, read them all.

1:Barbarians. A cliche, I know. But imagine a group of these with One handed weapons and shields, or twohanded swords, charging unarmored (on lower levels). Could branch into cavalry, throwers (A rain of javelins and axes are exactly the thing your enemy needs), and elite infantry (with chainmail and scalemail. They may be barbarians, but they aren't idiots)

2:Horse archers. Basically the ability to hire Black Khergits, or some weaker unit that eventually can be upgraded into Blak Khergits, possibly even higher.

3:Assassins. Another incredible cliche, but there really are now dagger flingin/crossbow bearing units out there. If enemies get close, they'll take their daggers and such out. Basically a ranged combat oriented unit, since crossbowmen and sharpshooters are deadly even if the enemy gets close.

4:Noble Swordsmen. No shield, light armor, longsword bearing duellists or such. With really high onehanded proficiency. Truly the greatest swordfighters in the game, but because of their lack of shields and heavy armor the Guards an Sergeants still hold their appeal.

5:Elite troopers. armed with crossbows and swords, they would be an incredibly well adapting unit, although they shouldn't be good marksmen or awesome melee fighters. An option for those who wish flexible fighters.

Also, the ability to hire peasant women should be added, since having more than 5 of them survive to the point of being Sword Sisters is hard work.

If you've developed your Trainer skill you can train them up by resting in taverns rather quickly. I recently got 9 of them up to Sword Sister status in three or four game days. But other than that, yes, being able to directly hire more different units would be nice - though I think I read somewhere that being able to side with bandits instead of the Vaegirs or Swadians is coming up anyway, so you might get that part of it at least.

Barbarians - I like it, some of them may be hireable as Mercenaries in Zendar, additionally they would be hireable at their village(s), whereever those would be put.

Horse Archers - good idea, but they shouldn't be upragdeable to Black Khergits - that would be like upgrading Vaegir Skirmishers to Swadian Crossbowmen...

Assassins - Assassins on a Battlefield? HELLO? I'm all for an Assassin hero, but they shouldn't be a normal unit, it just doesn't fit their modus operandi - they prefer to kill *off* the battlefield, and from the shadows, are not soldiers.

Noble Swordsmen - Dunno, I doubt they would fight like that on the battlefield. Again, a better Idea for a Charackter then for a unit, though way more reasonable than the assassins

Elite troops - Good idea, though they should get a better name IMHO

Hireable peasant woman - Completely agreed.

Well, the assassin would be out of place, but what else do you have as a knife throwing unit . Hold on, rangers! They'd have bastard swords and throwing daggers, Leather jerkins, and they all would strangely resemble Viggo Mortensen

Perhaps not noble, but Blademaster or something like that. I just think that since weapon skills can be raised up to 300, that there should be units with exceptionally high proficiency. The best I've seen so far is 150 or so.
I've got a character at level 29 and not even the worst enemies provide a real challenge, since every attack can easily be blocked. Besides, having ten longsword toting 250 HWproficiency enemies closing in on you is reason enough to include ranged units in your warband.

Um, rangers are more often associated with bows then with throwing knives

But there could propably a fictional culture that uses throwing knives/daggers as one of their weapons, just like the romans used pilums.

And Blademasters still wouldn't be that present on the Battlefield - first, there would be so few that they wouldn't be of much use as troops, and secondly they would more likely take positions like commanders or Weaponmasters, who would be responsible to train new troops and some of the sons of nobility. They wouldn't march out in mass into combat, where they could be shot by bows or charged down by Knights - rather, would seek duells with the enemy leaders - and alone, that is. Which why they should be heros instead.
While I like the idea, at last I can't make it any sense in RP. As I said - they would be the best of the best, and a very rare - so rare that an army consisting of them wouldn't be viable even if the King itself would try to form it, not to mention just one knight.
