Pope summons me then pretends I was never summoned.

I had just recently started a new character; at some point I received a letter from the pope to see him immediately.  The problem was that I could not enter the castle (apparently my prestige/class wasn't high enough).  I had to bribe the guards to enter even though I received a summons.  After that; when I talked to the pope he acted like he never sent for me; no extra dialog.

Now the letter did say to come immediately no matter what I was doing; but I was in the middle of a village training quest, so I waited until it was finished.  Is this like a 1-2 timed event?  It took me 4 more days to finish the training quest and get to Aldurias.

I actually loaded another save that was before this occurred.  I enentually received the message again and went immediately to him.  I still needed to bribe the guards to be let into the throne room regardless that I was summoned, but this time the pope had the dialog for me to lead the crusade.  It seems there is a 3-4 day limit to arrive before you lose the opportunity.  But there is not any notification that you took too long/failed to arrive in time to the pope.  This seems like it should be counted as a quest.

Hmm the Pope has multiple opening dialogs, perhaps you got another opening dialogue instead of the one where he asks you to go on crusade.
I'll prioritize this one to prevent this issue from appearing again.

The dialogue may always appear until the Pope decides to call another lord to lead the crusade.
