Hey fellow Prophesy of Pendor fans! We wanted to let you know that a new PoP roleplay has begun. It is focused on the orders and their competing ideologies.

We've set it 100 years after PoP4 so that we don't conflict with the RP MitchyMatt started. Obviously, that means we have a fanon timeline. We've done our best to make it fit with what is known about PoP4 and, since it is set in Pendor instead of Amala, there should be few conflicts with the future lore.

The playable Orders are:

Knights of the Dawn: Pious followers of the Astraean Church. Though the Church was reformed based on Roland's teachings, excessive zealotry was not wiped out. Red Dawn and New Dawn Knights have recently returned from Amala and have complicated the internal politics of the Order.

Knights of the Eventide: No longer masquerading as Astraeans, the Order is focused on colonial conquest instead. Many within the Order still worship Erida Occisor, but just as many have devoted their dark knowledge to the pursuit of personal power. Slavery, piracy, raiding, sacrifice: none are beneath the Knights of the Eventide. They still fight with the Dawn in the shadows, but do not seek to replace them as the true Astraean Order.

Knights of the Griffon: Loyal guardians of the King. The king's power has declined since the Unification and the Griffons are forced to act with more independence as a result.

Knights of the Dragon: Guardians of Old Ravenstern. The Dragons rebelled over 50 years ago to crown a new king of Ravenstern. They have failed, but new technologies have increased Ravenstern's wealth and the Dragons are all the more powerful for it.

Knights of the Ebony Gauntlet: Defenders of mankind against the Noldor threat. These powerful foot knights are located on the former Jatu Steppe with their own settlement. They sided with the Snake Cult during the Amala Wars and have never recovered from their crushing defeat. A poor order, it is in need of new supporters to fight the Noldor conspiracy.

Silvermist Rangers: The rangers were once the most powerful order in Pendor, but now are the poorest. Driven into the woods, they reconnected with their roots. Now they have agents in every village in Pendor and seek to foil the Ebony Gauntlet while redeeming their name and regaining their strength.

Shadow Legion: Followers of the Old Traditions. The Legion carries on the great ways of the Baccus Empire and seeks to recreate its glory in Pendor.

Order of the Clarion Call: Defenders of Pendor. While the Griffons support the king, the Call supports Pendor as a whole. They oppose foreign influence and native separatists alike. Now based in Janos, they continue their original purpose of fighting the Jatu who invaded Pendor decades ago.

Order of the Radiant Cross: Healers of the Snake Blight. Most of the Order is still in Amala, crusading against the remnants of the Snake Cult. They alone know the true power of the great enemy. A chapter of the Order has returned to Pendor to find new support for the next crusade and prevent the Kingdom from descending into chaos...and thus become vulnerable to a Snake Cult take over. (This order now reflects its PoP4 version).

Players will take on the role of an Order knight with a small retinue of their own. They will cooperate, and compete, with the knights of other Orders to advance the goals of their Order. In doing so, they will earn Renown, which can be used to acquire new equipment, assets, and troops. They might also improve their traits, going from a Master Swordsman to a Legendary Swordsman...or acquire new scars and wounds.

Our first event will be dealing with a tax revolt in Windholm, which has sparked a shadowy power struggle among the major factions within the city and threatens to spill over to the rest of the old Fierdsvain and even Ravenstern if not contained. There are also rumors of a strange man arriving in the city in the midst of it all....

With the first event concluded, resulting the burning of half of Windholm, the adventure continues.  Just a month following the disastrous Windholm revolt, the eyes of the orders of Pendor turn south, towards the ruins of Torbah.  Reports of a growing horde of D'Shar Tribesmen and Jatu have the kingdom on edge.  An invasion not seen in decades threatens to burn the land.  Meanwhile, a simple scholar continues his question for answers and a long dead order of knights....

Just read the Character Creation thread in the King's Hall section, create an account, and follow the instructions to apply. After creating an account, you can post a bio/application in the Character Bios thread. The players and GMs will comment and those that are suitable will be accepted into the RP.

Note: While Saxondragon gave his permission for this RP, he is not associated with it, so it is unofficial.

Question:

If one is involved in aftermath, does that mean that they must stick with that Order as well should they want to participate in this one?

Probably not.

This may be a separate one for those who probably lost interest in the other roleplay. Which is my guess lol.

Nope.  This is a different RP.  There's no reason you couldn't participate in both if you're so inclined.

And make sure to read the Pendorian Chronicles to see what interesting things happened in this crazy land. Teaser: Poinsbruk was destroyed by the Knights of the Dragon! The Dawn suffered a purge! Now the Clarion Call actually strikes fear in the heart of their enemies! Silvermists and Gautlets are more dangerous and hated than ever!

Wait, did you just insult the Clarion Call?!  I'LL KILL YOU

*swings impotently at Saeros*

The current Order populations are as follows:
2 Dawn, 1 Eventide, 2 Griffons, 2 Dragons, 2 Clarion Call, 2 Radiant Cross, sooorta 1 Shadow Legion, 0 Gauntlet, 0 Silvermist.

Don't let this make the decision for you though.  Play a character in the Order you're most interested in.  This just might help if you're torn between a few Orders.

We're likely to begin the Winds of the West event today, or at the latest tomorrow.  You're still welcome to join after it begins, but your character will arrive a bit late to the fun.

Better late than never. And remember, having your character run into bandits on the way is an allowed excuse.

For the record, the first event has started.  We could definitely use a Silvermist Ranger so that we have players for every order.  Legionnaires, Eventiders and Gauntlets are also welcome.

Or frankly, whatever you want.  As GM, I won't complain.  I still get to kill you in all sorts of fascinating ways no matter which order you join.

Are the Radiant Cross Knights now foot knights wielding polehammers?

Edit: Wait, what? Why are the Gauntlets siding with the Snake Cult? And they don't worship any gods afaik. Can someone enlighten me?

Edit 2: Never mind, just read in greater detail. Makes me sad for the downfall of the Order though.

As a matter of fact, yes. Why does the population white paper exist?

On topic: I do like this alternate storyline. Brings a whole new perspective. I'll think of a character bio after my examinations.

We be needing Silvermist and Shadow Legion players. Both are very interesting orders. The former are ultra-skilled archer underdogs (in a similar way as the Gauntlets), and the latter are advocates of the fallen empire of Baccus - among other things, legionnaires believe that living in a state of constant war and competition is the best way to improve oneself and honor one's order.

By the way, the first major event has already started. Here one of the many funny quotes from the OOC thread:
"Hey, I'm trying to be nice and promote inner order bonding.

With slavery."

- From Varys, master of puns.

Really, that's the quote you chose?  :???:

I'd have gone with something about a Dawn knight burning down a bar-tent with numerous PCs inside.  A great way to purge them of sin!  Sadly that good Sarleon wine was lost...

The red wine mist was just a result of one of the Dragons spitting it out when they realised it wasn't a proper drink, like ale.
