Poor spelling/grammar ban?

I was just wondering what everyone's thoughts would be on introducing poor spelling and grammar as a bannable offense? I'm not talking about a few spelling mistakes, typos, or the person in question being a novice in the English language/mental disorders. I mean people who, quite obviously, can type English to a native/near-native level but choose not to. I genuinely believe this is a good idea; this is in no way a joke thread.

I agree.  We have had some genuine idiot spellers, but the two seem to go well together.  This community is strict enough that anyone who posts in l337 or aol-sp34k is usually banned for some other offense.  If that doesn't happen, they're usually reminded enough that they either shape up or stop posting.

I  totally agree, if someone types in a totally illegible manner, and they can type correct spelling/grammar, they should get temped, but not perma banned. Unless they refuse to change their habits. By the way, shouldnt this be in the privy council, or something like that?

No, on topic: Usually all 1337 users get flamed and once they flame back they get banned. I myself wouldn't mind living in a 1337-free world, it probably won't happen though, because of our tolerant admins.

You can spell to a level I consider acceptable, if somewhat mockable, it's that you refuse to use grammar, capitalization, and punctuation.
