Poor ole Firentis...

Knight
... I mean poor bastard - one mistake and he walks the realm as a shadow of a man. Quiet and solemn he is one of my most able soldiers - he never complains or grumbles but like some atoning ghost faithfully and with capability discharges every duty given him even against great odds.

I feel for him and love his loyalty.

Anyone else empathise with a character?

He never complains? He dislikes too much fighting and failing quests. He also starts complaining if you take a hostile action against villagers (which I almost never do though). I never take him in my party.

Yup, he's my favorite. Though i find it ironic that he starts with the best combat skills, turns into a real killing machine but talks about not wanting to kill anymore. But that makes him more, uhm, real.

He's too much of a soft hearted ***** for Hreidar's  (my char. name) army.
But yes I agree, he's one of the most likable characters, if anything because he's sort of the tragic hero.

I also like Rolf, I still can't decide if he's really a noble or just a bandit with a real bronze face (do you say that in English? As in someone who can tell big lies without even blinking). And for some reason I also like Lezalit, maybe because in my head he speaks like Sgt. Hartman from Full Metal Jacket.

It was before, and it wasn't so much Ymira's 1's I was drooling over but her 0's.

So, I'm hung up on an imaginary 13th century woman. That's not so bad. Is it?.......Is it?

To be honest the only reason I like Firentis is he has no issues with Jeremus... but he does have issues with Matheld and Katrin who are two that I do like.

I would be willing to wait on Matheld till I am ready to start my own kingdom and make her a lord right away but taking on Firentis would mean I cant have Katrin either. The two of them combined do far more for me than Firentis does and so what if Jeremus doesnt care for Matheld.. I can usually keep stringing him along long enough for me to get Artimener to take over as surgeon for my army.

My vote will have to go with Bunduk, I think: venerable militia man, with a gripe with the rigid social class structure of the time. I wish he had a bit more of Dennis from Monty Python & the Holy Grail in him, however...letting the various nobles know that he didn't vote for them and that "supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses" or some such, frequently capped with cries of "come and see the violence inherent in the system! Help, help, I'm being repressed!"

Turning all "bleeding heart" are we? The man needs to learn respect for his betters.

Or would you turn Calradia into some kind of utopian republic?

Lezalit sees to it that Bunduk cleans the latrines for my army.  Rigid discipline is the key to survival and shiny toilet seats.

edit: Oh and back on topic, Firentis whines too much.  He's in my party, but I never take his side in any disputes.  I'm trying to toughen him up a bit.

I, too, have ultimate respect for Lezalit, because he sees the player as the only legitimate ruler in Calradia, the only one who can restore the old empire and he will follow you to hell and back if that's what it takes.

I must say I empathize with Firentis a bit, in the sense that he is a warrior who values human life. Kind of a hard contradiction to live with, especially since I usually get Klethi too.

Rolf and Matheld for me, although Lezalit doesn't  mind if you lose a fight. I had a word response once something like "don't worry my lord sometimes soldiers need to be culled so only the strong survive." What the.....?

Firentis and Klethi are my favourites. No pompous arrogance or snobbery, just nice peopl... er NPCs. No, I never empathised with my companions .

Firentis is nice enough, but he complains alot (although not as much as Lezalit and Matheld). He's also more than a little weird-looking.
Baheshtur is my favorite companion... he's just that awesome...

Firentis is my favorite companion as well, aside from the fact that he was the first companion I ever hired, I also quite like his characterization. He's ugly as a dog, it's true, but it's nothing a winged or great helm won't fix.

No companion complains more or less than the others, they all have two dislikes and one like. Whether a given companion whines a lot or not depends on which companions you have in your party. If you have Katrin and Nizar along with him, then yeah, Firentis is going to complain a lot.
