Poll: Who is your favourite companion?

I always start with Jeremus and Deshavi for their party skills (surgery and pathfinding) After that, Lazalit, Firentis, Klethi and Baheshtur because they get along.

Ymira, you don't need to 'pay' her for joining. Furthermore, she already has a few points invested in the healing skills. Only downside is that she starts at level 1.

That's a plus, actually, as it allows you to distribute her points as you see fit.

That's indeed true. However after every battle (especially in the early battles of a new game) she's always laying face down due to a single slash/blow from a Sea Raider. She doesn't have many points in Strength (I believe 6) so you can't really equip her with good armour let alone equip her with good melee weapons to boost her offensive power.

Ah well, every downside has it's upside.

When I equip Ymira with a bow as 'primary' weapon and tell the archers to hold position she tends to follow me instead.

Must be me doing something wrong..

Besides that I find companions to be far better than the average soldier. If you take the time to level them up that is.

Not for the same level. After all, a top tier regular troop is level 27 or so and it would take most of the game to get a hero to that level.  To make up for that you can equip them with the best equipment so that they can be pretty good fighters by around  level 12.

Lazelit is my favourite companion, because of he is very good at fighting. I'm generally giving him a courser and double sided lance, once he has couched his lance and killed the lord, it had made me happy. But generally companions die firstly(even what you have given they), it is like a rituel.

at first, pretty much. But once you get them leveled up sufficiently you end up with an army of immortal supersoldiers

could be that... but i don't have money enough to buy equipment... and when i do that, they just gone because they don't like other comnios that really make want to kill them with my axe... uff...

That's why you need to study the npc companion chart and only pick companions that get along, although it means you can have only 8 instead of all 16.  I've tried to have more but gave up; too frustrating when they leave- not to mention the whining even if they don't leave.

Borcha!  Every party needs a scoundrel.  I miss having him start out at Riding 4 but I still work it up to that level, put him on a heavy charger with heavy axe, heavy plate, and pretty much anything "heavy" I can stack on him.  Then I just let him run back and forth across the enemy lines, trampling anything and everything while the rest of us sit and watch.  We have a lot of fun, Borcha and I.  We like our horses heavy, our weapons heavy, or women heavy.  There was this fat wench at Tihr one day and we....

I found this in the module code:

heroes with health below this will not appear in battles and will not contribute to party skills.

Judging from this, probably not.

I alwyas used to buy my companions decent gear, not full plates but like, the Coat of Plates and Mail hauberks with decent other weapons and armour. But they are getting on just fine with basic stuff now, and I got like 340k+ from saving up. No use to me of course, but most of it is capturing lords and selling them.

I like Deshavi the most, because once she has riding, she's a great horse archer, and being a good one myself, I admire that. And shes a woman.

Jeremus, damn they guy is a saint, if you make him level 5 times he heals so good and so fast even lightning can't kill your men!
