POLL: The Empire.... DO we NEED three of them?

Does the Empire need a rework/rethink?

  • No. the Empire is fine as it is.

  • Adding different troop trees to the Empire is enough.

  • An Ancient Greek style/inspired faction would be perfect!

  • Get rid of one of the Empire factions in favour for something else

  • Get rid of two of the empire factions in favour for something else

  • Get rid of Empire completely?.... lol?

EDIT: You can vote for up to Three choices in the poll( just dont vote NO as well as one of the "yes" answers, this is more for if you think they need a rework but arent fussy with how many empire factions get replaced and with what. E.G i voted to get rid of one of the empire factions in favour of something else as well as an ancient greek style/inspired faction) You can also change your vote

So basically, i feel like the empire (north south and west) are too... "samey" for my liking. Their troop trees are the same, as far as i can tell their cities and names are really the same dialect type(which yea this makes abit of sense) and as there is Three different empire factions we see a whole central blob of the map just full of the same units, the same town/castle/village types and essentially the same history. This seems a bit much and could be taking the place of possibly a whole new faction that would add more diversity.

I personally think it would be great to have one of the "empire" factions be perhaps more based on Ancient Greece, and have similarly inspired troops and city and town names etc. Lorewise they can still have been a part of the empire but when the empire split they reverted back to their original culture and name (insert ancient greek sounding name for the faction here)

I think an ancient greek culture fitted into/replacing one of the empire factions can make enough sense lorewise and geographically (perhaps southern empire) or even make a new (Eastern Empire) at any rate the samyness of the three empire faction is abit disapointing i think...

So what do you think ?

They were 1 faction that disintegrated into 3 warring factions, they should be the same.
I understand that, but when such a large central area is all the same it is quite repetetive in respect to troops and geographical structure. Why not have the empire split into 3 factions that have some kind of variation as opposed to splitting into the exact same thing?

Keep in mind that the Empire mechanics are not implemented yet. I think, there was once a blog about how the three Empires act differently to each other than to the other factions.

Empire is fine as it is, only thing i would really like is if they each got a special unit that only they had access to. Palace Guard for the emperors wife for instance, foreign legion for the general and something like noble sons for the senate.

This would be better if this is true. as at the moment the three empires similarities doesnt seem too ideal

So youre ok with each empire faction having the exact same troop trees with no differences in structure and troops types? why not have different special troops across each of the special troops. so their base troops have the same tree. but the special troops that go to tier6 have some variations?

Agree they feel 'samey'. Saying they were One Empire that got divided is like an easy out for the Dev's -kinda like Codemasters Operation Flashpoint saying all the Civilians fled so they wouldnt have to model them ingame. Honestly 2 Empires would have been enough and then have another distinct culture.

Well the split happened just recently. Up until a few years ago this was one Empire so there isn't really enough time for them to develop individuality. Anyways what we are seeing is not really 3 separate empires but more a civil war.

But do we REALLY need three of them? is two not enough? leave some room for a new faction perhaps

they should be vary similar, its only been a year since it all fell appart, so the standart of their military should be almost identical. My idea of their special units can be easily explained by lore. Palace Guard being fiercly loyal to the royal family. The generals special troop being veterans who follow him out of loyalty and the senate noble units being special troops with the best quipment wealty families can buy. plus as another guy mentions, im pretty sure that there are things not implemented in the game yet, that will make the broken empire thing more interesting.

I'd like to see some differences between the three empires.

It's the same as the Roman Empire, the opponents the Western, Southern, and Northern empire are fighting are vastly different to each other, the climate is different, the troop types they fight against are different. So would be cool to see if there was some adjustment from the southern empire for example, on how to deal with the horse archers of the Khuzaits, and similar for the other two empires.

So this is rather a rework of the current empire troop trees slightly rather than just leaving as is

I wholeheartedly agree. even though they only split recently, they have been so far away from the other borders of the once big empire that they would be more specialised in different regions, and i feel that this being reflected in troop trees would help with making them not feel so repetetive

its more keeping the troop trees that are, but adding a unit or unit line to it. similar to the special merc clans thats already in the game, but tied to the 3 empire factions.

I'd love if the empire factions started the same, but then began pulling in different directions.
Different political focus. Garios on the commoners, Lucon on the nobles and Rhagaea on absolute monarchy.
Garios should incorporate the legion of the betrayed and gain access to their troop tree.
Lucon could get a lot more noble recruits and so focus more on a cavalry army and Rhagaea could use the standard troop tree.
On top of that I hope the empire will focus on a civil war instead of just attacking everyone.

ALSO: you can chose more than one option in the POLL if you chose to as long as the two or three options dont obviously contradict. (incase you didnt see my edit of my Original post) also you can change your vote if you want to do this and didnt the first time.

This is still reworking the troops trees in a way though. the extent might be small but its suggesting that the current state of the empire isnt ideal is what i mean

Ogarons post had quite a good idea on how the three empires can have abit of variation
