So currently, it seems like the range of archers is severely lowered when fighting at dusk/night/dawn.

It is not known if it's a bug or if it's supposed to be this way. In any case, I thought it's probably good for the devs to see the opinion of the community regarding this.

have you tried ordering your archers to hold fire and fire at will again? I find that by default archers often seem to have super short range in general, but after doing that, they shoot from a reasonable distance.

Tried moving them, telling them to hold fire, open fire, changing formation, putting them in clear view of the enemy, other things, they just refuse to fire at anything above 10 meters away if it's between dusk and dawn.

EDIT: Refuse to fire most of the time. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Feels rather random, but almost all of the cases are in night time.

To be fair.
In the time in which bannerlord plays out there wouldn't be much light seen in the night unless they'd have lanterns or rush lights with them.
It would be extremely hard for archers to see any troops at all unless there's a full moon and troops have shining armor.

But this wouldn't decrease the length of which archers can shoot, it'd just make them shoot less accurate (being from the lack of sight).

So technically speaking; a debuff on accuracy would be more realistic than having them not shoot at all when "out of range", since they aren't really out of range.
Archers still have ears and can hear troops marching; armors and weapons clinking and jingling.

Totally agree that a decrese of troops accuracy is a better way.

The most annoying part is when the AI don't seem to have the same debuff as your army (looking at you, bandit hideouts). Fix that first, then we can talk (although I would always prefer an accuracy debuff to a range debuff. It would be a disadvantage without 100% screwing over ranged units).
