[POLL]: How do you feel about he console port?

How do you feel about he console port?

  • I think it's great, the more people able to play the better

  • I think it's good as long as the game isn't limited because of consoles

  • I don't care either way

  • They shouldn't even be thinking about consoles until EA is done for PC with all promised features

  • The console port is just a money grab

Not sure why the date matters
it matters because them wanting to do a simultaneous release before starting the early access indicates that they're capable of adding new features while working on the console port.

they've already added new features since the early access started and are working on some more. so if they've started the console port long ago as can be understood from callum's comment, the console port isn't preventing them from adding new features.

this is huge for me because it restored my hope that bannerlord will be good some day. i thought since they started the console port, we were only going to get bug fixes until full release.

sorry for the long post but i don't know if i could explain my thoughts with less words.

only a handful of additional features they've confirmed.
they don't like to confirm things because it bit them in the ass with some features.

We won't even be getting alliances or non-aggression pacts
i have a vague memory of alliances being on the "wishlist" of armagan or one of the leading devs but they wanted to add other things first.

i don't care how long it takes them to make bannerlord good as long as it does become good.

It shows they've been adjusting development with consoles in mind (radial menu for one). They've also confirmed many basic features already done via mods as being "too complex". I don't think many people think no new features are coming now because of consoles, but adding other features (or you know maybe fixing siege ai) have been put off to work on the console port or features are actively being limited due to compatibility with consoles.

Devs confirmed last week or the week before alliances won't be happening, I'll try to find the quote

"Not currently"

I think the biggest problem with alliances are that they are OP and could make the game too easy. I would personally go for temporary non-aggression pacts instead (similar to truces).
Since "not currently" means "not ever", if you really care about this, you'll need to take matters into your own hands.
You'll need to somehow resolve gameplay issues of OPness and compose a well-written thread post about alliance/NAP design/rules that addresses Taleworlds' concerns AND is fun to play.
Then get support in that thread from the forum mob notables and finally bug the devs to look into it until they buckle. It can be done.

I guess I'm just looking for some kind of depth and strategy to a depthless game that requires very little strategy and was hoping proper diplomacy could help with that.

It would be a massive waste of someone's time to do that, TW management doesn't budge often. As with all of the other things missing from this game, modders will fix it for free and TW knows that.

Not sure how that would make the game too easy, as long as alliances form to counter your alliance. Sure even then in some instances, it would still end up being an absolute steamroll, but it would allow for varieties of wars that involve crushing puny factions together or facing off against multiple allied factions alone. It would make the game more interesting if there was actual diplomacy and negotiations along with this. You could also have massive wars with multiple powers with and against each other on two sides. It'd be cool if they would be able to work together somehow instead of only being independent in their activities.

but we still got the "normal" layout.

this is very disappointing but i don't they mean too complex for consoles but for the average consumer. like when they dumbed down battle size because people complained of bad performance with 1000 troops on a weak PC.

but adding other features (or you know maybe fixing siege ai) have been put off to work on the console port
i think that their slow work is due to bad management made worse by working from home. i can't be sure it's because of consoles.

or features are actively being limited due to compatibility with consoles.
are we sure that this is the case? if it were, it's unforgivable.

@D0c1 I'll just say I appreciate your optimism, TW has long past killed my hope and trust in them. I do hope I'm wrong though
