Polished Landscapes test version [RELEASED]

I'm having trouble loading the PL mod. I keep getting an RGL error (see below) everytime I try to run PL. I've followed the instructions to the letter, copied/renamed M&B to PL_MB into my Program Files, copied/replaced the data folder and the inserted the PL mod into the Modules folder. However, I keep getting the error over and over again. I'm not sure what to look for/check as everything looks fine and I can run Native no problem.

Much thanks,

Yes, looks a lot like a missing/misplaced resource file. But, as animations are stored in the common_res folder, I don't understand why native runs fine :???: Are you sure you started native using the same installation as PL?

Only thing I would immediately suspect would be either you're a version behind or you ****ed up your module.ini or CommonRes folder.

news for warband compatibility?

I had the game from steam, so i dont know if is still compatible... my noobness..... :smile:

Hmh I tried to add it and succeeded to a certain degree but the new armor models all glow white and the terrain hight in cities is a bit messed up. Will keep trying to see if i can get it to work. But we will probably have to wait for gutefuk to make it really work.

Cant wait for that and for lords and realms to be ported over :grin:

this is how it works

I got it working in Warband 1.105 as well, but you have to modify Native a little bit, it won't work if you load it as a separate module obviously.

For those having trouble (had a lot myself, mostly due to being dumb), here's what I did:

(click to show/hide)
0. MAKE BACKUPS
1. I put the .brf files from the Resources folder in the RAR -> Resource folder in Native
2. Files from .dds Textures folder in RAR -> Textures in Native
3. Modified the module.ini (in notepad) in Native and changed the following lines:

load_resource = map_tree_meshes -> load_mod_resource = map_tree_meshes
load_resource = tree_meshes -> load_mod_resource = tree_meshes
load_resource = xtree_meshes -> load_mod_resource = xtree_meshes
load_resource = grass_meshes -> load_mod_resource = grass_meshes
load_resource = plant_meshes -> load_mod_resource = plant_meshes
load_resource = xtree_meshes_b -> load_mod_resource = xtree_meshes_b

load_resource = terrain_borders -> load_mod_resource = terrain_borders
load_resource = tree_e_meshes -> load_mod_resource = tree_e_meshes
load_resource = xtree_meshes_c -> load_mod_resource = xtree_meshes_c
load_resource = grass_meshes_b -> load_mod_resource = grass_meshes_b

And then change "scan_module_textures = 0" to "1" as you know.

Do NOT change "load_resource = materials" into "load_mod_resource = materials" otherwise you'll get white artifacts and crazy textures everywhere that look hideous. I kept it as is and it looks fine. Also I didn't overwrite any of the SceneObj files as I don't know exactly what they do.

Edit: Almost forgot, do not put the .txt files from Data on the RAR into your main Data folder, it gives me a startup error every time (rglScript.cpp).
This works well enough for me for now, even though there seem to be oddities here and there.

There is one downside though. Snowy sand.  :???:

To avoid this do not copy from Textures desert.dds

Works quite well, though there still little bit of snowy bits in desert's villages/castles/towns - in places where the usual green grass should be (near rivers, walls, houses, roads etc.)

Not going to lie. This looks AMAZING from the images alone.
I'd download it and try it, but I've never really been comfortable with betas and tests versions.
I'll be anxiously anticipating the first "real" version, though!

Three cheers!  :smile:
Huzzah!

It looks bloody awesome:

is it me or they reduced the grass density in warband?
Maybe. That screenshot is taken 'zoomed in' so the grass seems to stop at a short distance.
Otherwise it's not so visible. But especially hills look barren.

The only reason it's called a beta is because you can run through some trees.  Other then that, it's fantastic!

Works great on Warband.

Only hiccup I have noticed is for some reason on really dense scenes, anywhere there is a boulder, if you try and walk over the boulder you start walking into the air lol, also has invisible walls at these boulders.

Not sure if anyone else had this problem, but it happens so often that I was forced to remove the mod altogether  :cry:.

Otherwise great mod!

guyz i have problem with my WB on steam.

I created anoter copy of WB, in the same folder "common" of Steam. But seems that steam recognize only the first original folder. Not the new copy one, the one that contains PL TEST Module...

What can i do?

Stop using steam. :smile:

(Just backup warband - like you did - and install PL on the first install, the one which it does recognize, that should work.)
