NO! even at 200 + (yes finally did it) it's not as fast as people claim. You're still much slower and more vulnerable then on a horse! It's literally only good for chasing fleeing enemies (and some perks are okay). You start the game as slow as turtle but when your athletic skill levels up to 150, character runs unnecessarily fast. It's an immersion breaking mechanic. I hope you guys fix it.

My game is bugged then. Cuz I tested this character speed with heavy armor, heavy shield, spear and sword but my guy runs on Usain Bolt level on the battlefield. Looks totally awkward. The max running speed must be capped. Game version is 1.5.7 btw.NO! even at 200 + (yes finally did it) it's not as fast as people claim. You're still much slower and more vulnerable then on a horse! It's fine for low athletics char to be slow. Man remember being a heavy armor zero athletic in warband? Was awesome
I will say the speed and formulas for getting skill needs to be changed as it's very slow compared to riding.

This mod solves your concern. You can config it to what you like. You start the game as slow as turtle but when your athletic skill levels up to 150, character runs unnecessarily fast. It's an immersion breaking mechanic. I hope you guys fix it.
Fighting as infantry has its advantages. Yes, you are slower, but you have more control of your movements, you don't have to keep moving all the time, which means you are able to stay at the frontline and rack up kills.NO! even at 200 + (yes finally did it) it's not as fast as people claim. You're clueless, the max speed is capped at +10%. Try it, 300 athletics have no differences than 170.Fighting as infantry has its advantages. That being said, high athletics definitely makes you run way too fast. The max speed should be limited.
170 still makes you run way too fast. Should be limited at a lower point then. You're clueless, the max speed is capped at +10%. Try it, 300 athletics have no differences than 170.

Yes that's true but even at 170 athletics your character runs around like Sonic on crack, even in heavy armor. Imho it's one of the most immersion breaking things in this game. You're clueless, the max speed is capped at +10%. Try it, 300 athletics have no differences than 170.

Problem isn't about the speed cap. Currently the weight system isn't implemented yet, that's why I suggested the mod from nexus. The mod has a lot more interesting features, the weight system, bleeding system etc. The mod removed speed cap, but the weight system counter balance it. You can expect heavy infantries to run slow. The best part is that it's fully configurable, so users can modify the values however they felt it's balance.Yes that's true but even at 170 athletics your character runs around like Sonic on crack, even in heavy armor. For sure but as far being too powerful, you're still faster and safer on a horse. If anything, for me 150+ athletics seems required for melee combat as you can actually get out of the way of multiple attackers and get into good position, circle around and hit and such.Fighting as infantry has its advantages.
Are you sure it not a mod or something? I don't think it's that fast, it still takes time catch up to running enemies and such. I don't take the 1st +10% speed perk though, so maybe that's it?That being said, high athletics definitely makes you run way too fast. The max speed should be limited.
Right, but you can't get as many kills on horseback as you can being on foot, so I guess it all depends on how you define power. For sure but as far being too powerful, you're still faster and safer on a horse. I don't use any mods, and yeah, of course you gotta take that perk if you fight as infantry. Are you sure it not a mod or something? I don't think it's that fast, it still takes time catch up to running enemies and such. I don't take the 1st +10% speed perk though, so maybe that's it?
